Mid-Ohio Track Day v2 - June 21/22 (Fri/Sat)

Fri and Sat, June 21 and 22

We are hijacking the other thread so much, it has lost it's original direction so here we go.

Ninjettes rail Mid-Ohio v2 - Details found here. (Mid-Ohio v1 here)

The plan
Do a track weekend (Sat. & Sun.) for 2 days of solid, fun riding. You can be in for both days or just one of the days. There will be no camping on Fri. night but will be an option for Sat. night. I will make myself available to answer questions, help with bike prep/adjustments or generally anything else you might need.

Typical schedule for any given day is;
7AM - Gates to paddock open
7AM - 8AM - Registration
8:30AM - Riders meeting (mandatory or you don't ride!!!!)
9AM - Hot track with Intermediate group going first
12 Noon - Lunch provided by the track staff
1PM - Hot track
5PM - Closed track and we go home

After hours
Friday Night - Parking lot madness, fun and other shenanigans (not sure where this is going to happen yet)
Sat. Night - Paddock party, food, drink all the essentials and bike prep for Sun. riders
Sun. Nigh - Before pack-up bullsh!t and track lie session ahahahahhaha (we can review the videos too)

My pit bike is fully ready to be crashed... ummm I mean ridden.

The Mid-O 2013 schedule has not been posted yet so we cannot plan a solid date as of yet.

Costs
$355 + incidentals for both days
$185 + incidentals for one day

Garages ($50 a day)
A garage holds 4 bikes easily, 5 bikes tightly. Plan is to split the cost of riders who are in the garage. Garages have full electric and air hookups and stay way cooler in the hot and humid weather that Ohio has.

Gear
I can get some amount of gear, plus I have 2 extra suits. Let me know if you need something and I will do my best to get it for you. No promises..... but I will share the gear off my own back with you if your riding a different group and it fits of course.

Transport
I have offered to pick up a few peeps near the Cleveland area (3.5 hours out of my way) but I will stick to my word. I can haul 4 more bikes, so if you need a ride plan on getting to a common meeting spot and help load up (bring your own straps) and a 10 spot for gas. Remember if I transport you, you must be willing to work with my lax schedule. First come, first served.

Groups
I will call the track and arrange for our spots ahead of time to ensure we get what we need and try to get a discount. I will ride in the Novice (afternoon sessions only) and Intermediate (all day) groups to film riders and offer tows or follow.

Novice (school)
1. @choneofakind
2.
3.

Intermediate (open track)
1. csmith12
2.
3.

Advanced (open track)
1.
2.
3.

Come ready to ride with a smile on your face and open mind to soak up all the good experience that is the track.

Oh, I plan on skipping a few of my sessions to take quality pics. I will be on my pit bike out in the infield in corners 5, 7, 8, 9 and 13. Be sure to smile for the camera!

I'm in for now! I will be leaving from PA and hope to be there Friday night. I needs a spot on someones floor to crash, or point me to the nearest hotel/motel since no camping will take place on Friday. I might be able to bring a few peeps with me too. Right, @Miles_Prower & @R1fr3ak911?

I will upload a video too but there is a picture lap around Mid-O

Start here with big grin!

The chicane (turns 2 & 3, straighten it out by riding the rumble strips)

The keyhole (4 & 5, early entry, go wide and hook it back in)

Kink (get kinky... WOT at near top speed )

Turn 7 (find a brake marker and use it, there are plenty to choose from)

Turn 8 (uphill and blind, don't be scared, look at the #5 sign)

Turn 9 (taken from the top of turn 8, a post downhill, 90 degree turn = elbow draggin fun)

Turn 10 (go fast enough and you might jump this one)

Turn 11 (uphill and blind, go fast enough and you can wheelie this one and a tough visual marker)

Turn 12 (take it hot and tight, it's really wide on exit)

Turn 13 (decreasing radius thrown in just for fun , safest way is to delay entry and late apex but it's not the fastest line)

Turn 14 (quick flick at WOT in 3rd gear )

Turn 1 (you can go faster than you think but there is visually a lot going on here, bridge, hot pit exit, median and so on, be on your toes)

Hmmm I may be down for this, depending on when it is. @nycsteve are you trailering your bike or riding there?

Also, beyond taping lights/taking off mirrors, etc..what else do we need to do (to a stock bike)..anything major?

The only thing I'm worried about is wrecking my bike and not being able to return to PA LOL.

If your riding the Novice class then all you have to do is tape up, silicone your oil drain, oil fill and oil filter bolts, swap coolant for engine ice and have decent tires. Do yourself a favor, don't ride down from PA, trailer in. Rent a truck if you have to.

Dude... I"M RIDING! jk, maybe. lol

But your concerns are legitimate. I plan on riding over if I will be going by myself. If you go I was thinking we can either use your car or rent one. We can rent a trailer and room too. The cost split would work better if we are going to be riding all weekend. I can plan to have off Thu-Tue. Get to Pa on Thursday, leave from PA Friday morning for Ohio. Come back Monday morning.

If our time and budgets allow, i think this would work out great. I prefer to do this during the summer months since I'm still going to school.

@csmith12 How many people can we stuff in a room? lol

I'm assuming you have this down by memory and so will help out. By help out, I mean make sure we don't f*** it up lol

Yea, I know their tech rules pretty well and also know the guys that tech the bikes enough to know if you will pass tech before you even take it for inspection.

I told Chone his chain was too tight before he went to tech and sure enough.... he comes back saying they wanted him to loosen his chain.

I can pretech everyone's bike so it goes smooth. Literally takes 3 mins.

Well...... If everything is on the down low. 5 or 6 with sleeping bags. 4 is comfy though 2 per bed. No homo, funny business or I get out my fuzzy handcuffs.

Bring earplugs for the snoring. Ask me how I know.

Summer would be perfect. We'd have to rent a vehicle, my little coupe doesn't tow things haha. No issues splitting cost for hotel or trailer or anything like, sounds like a plan to me. I do know I want to ditch these IRC tires before then though!

LOL on the fuzzy handcuffs!!!!

TRIP IS SOUNDING AWESOME ALREADY.

No torque on that thing? It's only a few hundred pounds.

I have some sport demons I have yet to put on. Might save em for the track day unless we can get some smashing deals at the track.

I'll keep my options open, but it's not worth payin' for a hotel room when I only live like 70 miles away.

In for novice class!!! I'll look more into the budget as we get closer, but if I can float a sat/sun weekend, I'll do it. I'm working on getting a suit - alex.s got me looking a Kobe suits, and the numbers work well with me (crossing my fingers that they represent their measurements honestly)

I'm also totally in for a saturday night track walk, regardless of if I do a single day or a weekend. I'll bring a couple bicycles so I can take cody on my BMX pegs around the track, and someone can ride my MTB as well then we can have bicycle-shenanigans along with csmith12's pit bike shenanigans. I can loan a small tent if anyone needs it. It's fine for one person, and COZY with 2 :P

More people who need to see this thread - @nautica, @RiderOnTheStorm. I'll look back through our thread jackings and get more people tagged later.

It was a new chain!! It's better now that I have different gearing and I gave it some more slack.

That was an embarrassing way to start the day.

Other than that, my bike was great!!! I had it almost completely prepped 2 days before and loaded up the day before so all I had to do was hop in the truck and drive south.

I also brought extra of all fluids, tools, a chair, etc. I was more prepared than you expected me to be

Bring your computer again, and use this when we talk about lines through turns. I think it would really help to see the turns like this. Our little pep talk about reference points and lines was awesome. Like the tar strip under the honda sign, and the 200 marker with the chunk out of it, and the line through the carosel/keyhole.

Also, I think this video is great for giving an example of the squared off line through the keyhole ah la our dudes, Monger and Holbert

I'm excited about this again

I've walked the track several times. I used to go there to see the CART races every year with my parents. Just never driven around it.

Thinking about bringing my extra 24'' flatscreen to hook up for video/pic review and some movies during the evening. The track photographer does this and it works out well for him.

Missed this thread but I may be in for a track day but it really depends on what's going on for me, I have a wedding to pay for next year so who knows. Once a date is set I may be able to figure it out but I'll have to find a truck/trailer to get down there since I have neither. Definitely interested, though, so put me down as maybe.

Depending on the date I want to be in on this. Bike is up for the winter but barring any unseens, should be ready to start tracking again in the spring.

I'd like to hear about the photographing thing. I don't have the money to ride, but I may be interested in coming up to hang out and take photos of the track riders.

I think Chris mentioned being able to stand close to the track at certain places?
