I think my EFI is finally track ready. I got a rich map I like. It pulls like it should, and is moi bueno. I also got my fuel line secured better so it doesn't come off... again (I will be saftey wiring it in spring, just in case) I will also be playing with a little preload in my forks, but other than that, Mik and I are ready for track.

I talked to my parents about it a bit. They're cool with me doing as many days as I can sanely afford.

@siebadn - Depending on the map your looking at there are 12 corners and 2 straights at Mid-Ohio. Each corner has at least 4 or more holes in the fencing to aim a camera. They are also spread out through each corner so you can shoot more than one angle per corner. Some are on the outside of the track, others are in the infield. You have pretty much full access to the infield via 3 bridges.

You can get insanely close to the keyhole, turns 1, 8, and 10b. You will want to watch the action on entry to turn 7 and the wheelies at 10a. Most crashes will happen in the carousel (turn 12), turn 1 and the keyhole. There are a fair amount in 8 as well. Although, 8 makes the best crash pics because the bikes will come sliding toward the camera. lol

An interesting angle that is not shot very often is the enty/apex of turn 7 from the outside. To get there you actually have to go into the infield and go under the track via the tunnel. That can get you very close to 7.

7 is at the end of the back straight. You can top out a 600 there, 150+mph. This is where you will see guys lift/float their rear wheels braking retarded hard for turn 7 (about 90mph ish for the A group). A few "back it in" as well but not often.

The carousel is where you get the best shots of hook turns. If you want a good shot of someones BP, go there. They hook a lot there to avoid a bump on the track. Riders heads are really low there and toward the camera. The keyhole is similar but you can't get to the inside of it. So, if the rider is really good, you get a pic of what looks like a bike sliding across the track. hahahaha

I will mark up a track map with good shooting locations and post it up.

Heck yea, the exit/downhill part of 8 way out by the rumble is lowside land in the AM sessions. Take a tighter line or leave your fears in the paddock and exit totally on the gas.

Of course it has more grip when hot silly. Just fascinating that at ANY time, you would want less grip on the track.

I think I see what you mean though. More confidence in the later sessions, so you want the most grip then. From experience though, that track stays hot until about 10ish. Besides, you don't want it too hot on DOT tires or they could feel greasy. So it's all good.

Yeah that's what I meant. I was finally comfortable at the same time that the tires got really hot and stuck well.

I mean if you think the track stays hot late, I'd be alright with a 3:30 session as well. We can figure out later on what days will work. I still have no idea what my summer schedule will be

@Vitamin-E - We should start another thread when it gets closer. I see some are confused where these races will be.
@cuong-nutz - I don't "think" there will be any MCRA races at Mid-Ohio but if the tracks are the same as last year, then all of them would be a long haul for you. Don't let the distance have so much weight. Cincinnati OH to Jennings FL is a long haul just for a track day. ijs

I will definitely post up on here when the schedule is finalized and before events during the year.

I can tell you the tracks now:
Putnam in April
Gateway Motosports in May, June, Sept, and Oct

I apologize that we don't have at least 2 Putnam events. Sometimes, all things are not possible. Maybe we can have 2 dates there in 2014.

In the meantime, you guys start planning to make it to Putnam and "the 3-1-fo" to do some RACING!!! Believe me when I tell you that gridding up and getting the Green and Checkered Flags adds a whole new dimension to your riding, your 250cc, and your overall passion for the sport of Road Racing Motorcycles.

Only other thing holding me back is I would have to ride my bike there and back after, it's not race prepped and ...a crash will, well we all know.

Sorry man. The twilight sessions are for I and A riders only. It wouldn't be a good place for first timers. There are no groups, just I and A riders mixing together on track at the same time. Just hours of open track, where riders come and go as they please. It's really kick a**.

Not only that, compared to a normal track day, the twilight sessions are mainly filled with track ho's (riders that go do mid-o 4+ times a year). Which means the I group's pace is near a normal track day's A pace and A group's pace is near AMA race pace. It's not uncommon for me to come up on riders in the corners with a difference of speed that is 30+mph between riders. You have to know how to handle yourself and the bike if you know what I mean.

Also, coming from TN, I couldn't let you ride all the way to the track. You will have to ride past me in order to get there. So contact me and I will haul you up from KY and back. Don't hesitate to take me up on the offer, please.... If you can get to KY on 75N, I will haul you the rest of the way.

You could always rent a truck too.
