I've had some setbacks with meal choices this week. I had some pizza at Old Chicago on Tuesday night before my insanity workout. It was a miserable experience. I almost threw up and developed a shin splint on the right side. It was a stark contrast to Saturday, when I pulled off an hour workout in the morning and ran 5.26 miles that evening. Last night still wasn't great, but I can tell tonight will be better because I've eaten better last night and this morning. It's amazing how something as simple as what you eat can totally alter your workout. It's not just calories in and calories out. Where are those calories coming from...

I realized I need to cut back on beer, especially craft beer. I only have a couple a week but I know they're not too healthy ha.

I used to like running but now I have no desire, especially in the cold! I'll just run to the fridge to get the beer and maybe that'll burn it off?

Islay? I've never tried that. I'll have to hunt some down...

Slightly more on topic, though, I find that I have a way easier time going on a 5-6 mile run after a night of hard liquor, rather than a night of pitchers at the pool hall. Not that it happens often. The drinking, I mean.

It's not a brand, it's a region.

I haven't followed this thread since the pictures and male bonding were starting to scare me, however; since racing demands a high level of concentration, and that's what you lose first when you get fatigued, don't forget to do extreme amounts of cardio.

I've never been on the track, so I'm just guessing here, but wouldn't it be more about endurance than necessarily cardio?

Isn't that just semantics in a way? Those typically go hand in hand.

For some, like me... cardio is the the %80 path to endurance, the other 20% is mental.

Sarah, it seems we have much in common. I like me a good craft liquor. In KY, I have access to some locally distilled liquors of the not so legal sort. I have taken my trips in the dirt from enjoying a bit to much. hahahahahah What do you have experience with as a good mescal?

Back on topic,

Weighed in tonight at 181lbs with 10.1% bf. Yea.... that is an increase in bf. It's almost Apr. 1 and the start of my cutting phase. 2.5 weeks of eating like a rabbit. First races at the end of April and I am right on schedule.

Take a look at Rossi's body. You don't need to "roid" look. Good tone with endurance gets the job done. Big muscles weigh too much. Slim, trim, and strong is the best racer body.

P.S. Rossi is always smiling.

Man.... I do need to smile more. I am a happy, go with the flow kind of guy and like to laugh a lot but you wouldn't know it from those pics.

Yea CC, I agree with ya for the most part. But like I posted at the beginning of this thread, my main goal was to replace fat with muscle and build some endurance. And I am doing just that. Maybe a bit to much muscle.... but you won't here many ladies complaining about dat. But I see your point, I must be careful to not go too far, I still want to fit in my leathers.

I started this weighing in at 175lbs (give or take) with somewhere around 15-18% fat (best guess). Here I stand today, happy with what I see in the mirror, feeling better, stronger, more flexible and with more edurance. All while weighing in at;

with my clothes on.

Nice job Chris. What's your goal to be at by the start of race season as far as body weight?

And in the past 5 weeks I've only put on 3 lbs but it looks like I cut quite a bit of fat out and got more definition. If I had to guess I think I'm around 14% but I don't know. And I forgot to smile so I did some editing work so that I would be smiling, unlike Chris ha. For reference that's 5'9" @ 160lbs.

175lbs, I am not much on changing goals until they are reached. Especially when there is only about a month left and I am pretty much right there. But since it seems I am going to reach it without really getting into the cutting phase and early on the calendar, I am not so sure what I am going to do with the next month as far as goals.

Thinking about working on flexibility more, maybe weaker muscles that I pull every so often, maybe dust off the dirt bike and take CC's advice. I got options right now.

Take a dance class. Also totally serious. Especially something like African dance or ballet. They require stamina, build flexibility, and especially work your hips a lot, which would be especially helpful, I'd imagine.

I have the opposite problem - I'm currently sub 100, and my normal weight with my build is closer to 110-120. I don't like being told I look frail.
