Hey folks, a couple words of warning about the Tech Day location in Indio.
  • Gusty wind conditions are not unusual
I'm not guaranteeing that there will be wind, but no one should be surprised if there is.

  • Do you have animal allergies?
We have dogs, cats and birds in the house. Let us know if you've got an issue, we'll see what we can do.

  • Do you have special food requirements or preferences?
Let us know and they will be catered to (within reason). E.g., what kind of soda do you like?

  • It can get hot here!
We've got a pool and plenty of towels, bring your swim trunks.

Please PM me if you have any requests, comments or questions.

I mentioned it before, but better safe than sorry, any special tool requirements?

Anything else?

Props to you, Ken, for stepping up and offering your place and for being such a gracious host. Give Crissy a hug for me for allowing the house to be taken over by hooligans.

Good Karma all the way around for the both of you!!!

Did you get pods for your bike yet alex? I'm at Dustin's right now and we're just zipping everything back up from the pods/exhaust. You should swing by; aren't you like down the street??

Hi guys would like to join for the Tech Day if work permits Have ?'s

New 2-11 Ninja250r bought last week. I am not new to riding rather the opposite, however this bike seemed to offer lots of fun pushing to the limits (so to speek) with out having to go like a bat out of hell. I would like to add some mods exaust perhaps maybe the growler and other little things. I saw that LED lights were being added no sure how many needed or where they go but that could be a cool cheap upgrade and a fun project but what else is suggested, and does anyone have a source for the growler. I heard its loud i am hoping not too loud. Where and what time is the Indio trip

Huge thanks to Cuong for coming over and not only helping do everything to the bike bit even loaning out his pods to me! Everything turn out great and we even had Alex come by! We each got to try out the Daytona and I tried out the Fazer! I'm still coming to tech day... just won't really be doing anything to my bike now just helping! Look forward to next weekend!

You still good to swap your FE for my stock set up? Not sure how bulky it is or if you can ride it out there since you are not taking your exaust now.

No problem. We can corral them in the master bedroom for the duration. They'll be OK. Will that work for you?

Sounds good, Ken I'm just going to ship everything myself up to you tuesday. UPS should make it by friday hopefully

So Shawnay and I had a mini tech day today. We were going to shim her carbs and I was going to do my LED's, charger, and headphone jack. But we couldnt find the 90 degree tool thing anywhere so we couldnt shim her carbs But I did get my LED's done! And now for pictures....

The charging LED looks like an alarm light

With a lil flash

This is her bike with the painted wind screen! It looks pretty darn good

And this is my phone charging with my badass speedo app!

I was planning on doing the dash LED's but forgot the LED's at home

Alex, I've been looking at rearset adjusters and I'm cheap and have spent way to much money on my exhaust lol How hard do you think it would be to make a pair? The A&L ones are like $70. Would it be worth it to try and make it ourselves?

So what time is all of this happening? I don't need anything done to my bike but I'm always up for hanging out. I'm busy on Sat but I can stop by on Sun.

Sunday will be a sun up till we are done kind of thing, I am guessing till at least 4 or so (that will be my target so I can get home a decent time. Not sure when the other guys will be out there and who else is going Saturday.

Saturday I'll be leaving the southbay around 2 or so, my gps says about 2.5 hours to get there so ifi don't go the wrong direction twice I should he there around 4:30 or so but I have to talk to Ken to see what the plan is on Saturday. If anyone else is going Saturday let ke know we might be able to ride out together.

Like Jeff said, Sunday will be an all day affair. A lot of folks have planned on at least stopping by on Sunday.

We're also "open for business" on Saturday, but only Jeff and Kevin have mentioned that in their plans. I think they'll both be doing tear-down and prep work on Saturday and major project stuff on Sunday.

If anyone wants to do anything on Saturday, or start on Saturday and finish on Sunday, that's available. We've got space.

I get off at six. I might be able to get off at 5 but I doubt it. If you want to just head out earlier thats fine. I'm just going to book it over there before it gets too cold or windy

Yes he has, and it's damn sexy!

Btw Dustin, we never double checked the idle mixture screws once we warmed up your bike. Next time the bike is warm, rev up your bike to see if the tach returns normally (err on the rich side).

Oh wow! That is sexy! How long did it take you guys? Start to finish. And what jets and needle positions did you go with?

It took him an hour to completely strip down the bike before I got there (battery, undertail, everything basically). Since he has the hugger, it really got in the way of removing the airbox since it blocks the space so we had to remove his hugger and then finagle the box out. So removing the airbox probably took an hour.

Normally I can rejet without removing the carb, but we could only remove 7 out of his 8 screws. The last screw on his float bowl stripped so we had to remove his carb to extract the screw. He has shiny new stainless steel Allen screws in them now so that should make it a lot easier in the future. Somehow, his idle mixture plugs were already removed as well. Pods take like 2 seconds to install. Give another 1-1.5 hours to button everything back up. Whole thing should take about 4 hours depending on how focused you are and what obstacles you'll face. Add in Dustin's OCD of cleaning everything tacks on another couple of hours We also learned on what prevents a throttle cable from snapping back...

He went with DJ 106's and the default e-clip at the third position on the needle. Idle mixture screws at 2.5 turns, but we never double checked it after doing it (bike wasn't warm).

Ok cool coo, i thought it was going to be much worse then that!

For the jets. Did you get to ride the bike at all after? How is it running.

and for you Cuong, what are your jetting specs? I pic up my 12" Area P race tomorrow, I was thinking the 108's? I have pods also

I didn't ride the bike, but he says it definitely pulls harder for him now. We were on a military base so we couldn't really open up the throttle (btw, I was pulled over by MP going 45 mph ).

I have 106's on mine, but my pods aren't flowin as freely as when they were new (they're pretty dirty). 106 or 108's should be fine for you and it's what Kerry recommends for his exhaust with pods. I believe Sherjay is running 108's on his with the race exhaust/pods.

Quick vid on testing Dustin's bike in Camp Pendleton. Unfortunately there are no tanks in the background At the end we apparently were entering a live mine zone. I was all for riding through it, but Alex chickened out

No plans yet. I'm kinda waiting to see if anyone else is interested in doing any maintenance stuff on Saturday.

Depending on when you come in, we could run up 74 real quick, or maybe Jeremy, KC and ( _your_name_here_ ) could do a ride with us from Banning to Indio, by way of Idlywild, on your way in? That's a cool idea, however, I don't want to get so distracted with other stuff that the Tech Day becomes secondary. We could certainly do it, but we'd have to draw up some definite plans.

Yes to the animal flesh! I need to talk with Crissy about what kind of menu she might be thinking of. (20+ years professional caterer, lucky me )

If anyone has any favorites for food or drink, speak up! Suggestions are always good.
