Oil Change @300miles
My Ninja has just over 300 miles on it and I'd like to do an oil change on it. I wanted to do one earlier, just didn't have the money until now. Should I switch to synthetic? If not, when should I do the switch to synthetic and what should I use until then?

You can technically switch at any time, but why pay extra for something your gunna throw away in 300 miles.
I made the switch after break in and I wouldn't be changing oil so often.

Yup, what chris said. How many more miles you gonna put on it before changing the oil again? No sense throwing away expensive synthetic oil with little use on it. Change to synthetic when you decide to go to regular (whatever that may be in your world) oil change intervals.

Do I need to go to a motorcycle shop and get Motorcycle Oil or will regular engine oil from a car shop work just as well? (I realise this may seem like a silly question)

Not really a silly question, just been asked many times before.
I wouldn't use car oil. Do your choice of motorcycle specific oil until your ready to make the switch to synth.

I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for in most products. This is most likely true with stands, but I have had much luck with the rear stand from harbor freight for my ninja. I don't trust it to hold up the R6, but I trust it for the ninja and it was $49. http://www.harborfreight.com/low-pro...and-99701.html
Your mileage may vary and I am sure others will have similar opinions or maybe quite the opposite.

Wait until 600 miles to change...
As recommended anyway, I think. You don't need to change the oil before that b/c you technically shouldn't be stressing out your engine since you are still in break-in period...
I've taken my bike to the dealer at 500 miles to change oil and do the first inspection. At 1300 I put synthetic oil in. Btw Cyclegear has the trackside rear stand on sale for $40 (or at least had last weekend, I just picked one up). |

Cage oils have various additives in them, it is not designed to operate with a wet clutch, this can cause the clutch to slip.
use bike oil, its designed not to let a wet clutch slip |
