Not a ninjette - 2008 Ducati 848 w/ spun bearing

Copied this post form the Ducati forum but im on here way more. Doubtful it will sell but its worth a shot.

Im about 99% sure this thing wont move from my basement but figured I would put a post up anyway. At the moment I don't have the time or money to fix it, after my wedding in a few months though if its not sold then I will prob fix it and sell it for the going rate.

A couple weeks ago at Mid-O I heard a noise which most have agreed is a spun bearing. Video Here - Noise starts at 5:30 and I do another lap and it gets worse, I didnt know if it was just vibration or not but I pulled off at the end when it was pretty clear it wasn't. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OG5_ju-_UM

Im looking to sell it as a whole before I tear it down to save me some trouble. 4000 is my lowest as ive dropped the price a few times already.

It was dropped by the PO twice from the repair receipts I have, but all work was done by the dealership and it appears im the second owner. I bought it in 2014 with 6k miles and have put another 2k on it. Sitting around 8100, 7500 mile service was not done but I changed the belts last winter around 6500 miles. Its white with white powder coated wheels, Michelin power 3's made in 2013 with about 50% life in them. Termi exhaust, ceramic coated header (this is what the receipts say) so im not sure if they are termi headers or just coated stock headers. Im also 99% sure this has the DP Race ECU for the slip ons since it says Ducati 848 Racing when you turn the key on the bike. Carbon bits all over, sargent seat, some type of levers (vortex maybe?) frame slider, tail tidy, rear lowering link, 14T sprocket, pitbull rear stand for the SSS and the special tools for the chain adjustment, and front and rear wheel nuts. I think aftermarket HID's, at least when I pulled the headlights there was ballast with them and I don't know if HIDs were stock on these. I have both keys and all service records from the PO. Also has a tail tidy, and they moved the rear blinkers into the rear tail. Comes with both passenger seat or the single seat as well.

Also has superbike track bodywork as well, was previously repaired which I could tell when I sanded and re-painted it (rattle can, its just a track bike).

Im sure im forgetting some other small things, like I said I don't really expect anything from this but if I got an offer that I could live with then I would rather save myself the trouble of tearing it down or doing a motorswap. I still owe 6500 on the bike but if I got an offer and we both agree then ill pay the bike off and eat what I owe on it and hand over the title, no fuss.

Price got a little decrease, and added more of the included mods/parts that I could remember.

I was sent a quote from Jeff fox who is pretty well known in the ducati world, this was his reply

Yes I repair 848 cranks all the time. More so than 1098

I keep them here so if you want to do a exchange I can do that as well

It's $450 to repair your crank
$100 to repair your rods
$179 for rod bearings
$147 for ARP race rod bolts
Crank come back to you assembled with bearings sized and rods tourqed ready to install. Saves your mechanic 2 hours of labor and your paying him
Couple days turn around for exchange. It 2 weeks turn around to repair yours
Your crank must be repairable for exchange. If it is cracked then there is a core charge

So theres basically the cost for repair, other options are install an 848 or 848 evo motor, typical price from what I see on ebay is 1300-1700, drop it in and go.

Or if your really wild, a 1098 motor is basically a drop in as well with an ECU change.

Once im married though ill pull the for sale ad down and fix the bike, sell it for a good chunk more in spring.

KK got a couple weeks before I tear it down, so my lowest price is 4,500 as is with everything included. If it doesn't sell im still not sure if I will throw a lot of money into it and keep it, or fix it and sell it come spring when the prices are high.

But here are the options for myself or future buyers - I can give the details to the imaginary buyer.

Ben fox re-do the crank, rods, new bearings and ARP studs - 850.
Used motor- 1500
Ben Fox fully rebuilt motor - 2700.

Last price drop, updated main post. After this month if it doesn't sell it will be fixed over winter and sold for a lot more come spring!
