Loss of power on hills/rev and it stalls

Hi, I'm a new member and I am trying to get my girlfriend's 2010 250r running more smoothly. I am fairly new to motorcycles and extremely new to the 250r so I hope my question isn't silly.

Her bike seems to be running fine, the idle speed was a little high and it turns out the idle knob was the culprit, however it still stalls when I start it up and give it a little throttle. I also noticed it loses a great deal of power on hills.

I am unsure if the hill issue is related to the size of the engine versus the incline of the hill or not and was hoping someone could lead me in a direction to get it running the best that it could.

Thanks!

The list of suspects is long, could you help narrow it down a little bit more.

History of the bike? Services done? Modifications? Things you've tried? what is it doing exactly?

It could be something from water in the gas to carburetor issues, to engine etc......

The bike has around 5700 miles on it and it is all stock. The person we bought it from had the oil and oil filter changed at the beginning of the season but other than that I am not sure about the other maintenance that has been done on the bike. I know I have added SeaFoam to it to help the carb and it has seemed to have helped a little.

When I start it up I will give it a little throttle and the engine will die. As I said the SeaFoam has helped a bit because it wasn't as frequent today.

As for when I climb a hill the power just drops, I wish I could tell you what the rpms are saying but the tach isn't functioning at the moment either. But when I was driving it the other day I had to stop completely on a hill, before the engine stalled on me, and kick it down to first to make it the rest of the way up.

Okay seafoam, and the other issues is a sign the carburetors need service, I highly recommend you PM@Ducatiman for you carburetor needs. I'm guessing the bike sat before the last owner sold it to you.

Seafoam is not a cure all, like people think, it is however an excellent preventive maintenance item.

Get the carburetors serviced by @ Ducatiman, dumdump, flush, and fill tank with fresh 87 gas, and get the tach fixed.

Any other issues??

Maybe you can pm me about helping you out. I am local, love to help people and know my way around 250 carbs.

You're most likely gunna need to have the carbs cleaned but check the snorkel area as well.
