Out of curiosity which CBR600? the modern CBR600RR, or an older model like the CBR600 F4i?

The F4i is more upright than the RR, a good bit more commuter friendly, I personally love the look of the RR, but it is the most uncomfortable bike I've been on and I just couldn't settle on it.
BTW I'm about 5'7 and it felt cramped, maybe the previous owner was a real short-arse

I honestly wouldn't ( & probably couldn't) commute on a CBR600RR, any of the other 600s yeah (I havn't tried the 06+ R6, but the 05 model was fairly comfortable, I'm leaning towards that as my next machine)

Look for a test ride of an RR before buying & try to put up a decent mileage on it to see how it fits you.

Obviously you're aware that there are a number of much better choices for a commuter bike for a number of reasons already detailed in this thread. But as all of your replies have just been "Yeah, but I want a 600rr," you also obviously had no interest or intention or getting anything else as your next bike, so why even ask? If you want one, get one. You don't need our permission.

Also, LOL at the 650 and over 60mph comment. It's so ironic when people on this forum of all places ask about getting a bigger bike then start trying to make up reasons why nothing but a supersport will be adequate

I'm still lost, what do you want? Want us to say that you should get a SS, shouldnt get a SS, get the 650, got a 750, get a 1000, get a 1400, what are you looking for? If you are just looking for peoples experiences ask, if you are looking on info on what bike is faster or "better" google it (this is a 250 forum after all)

I'll put it this way, if you are trying to figure out what bike has the best "race" parts or how fast it is you should stop asking. It really doenst matter because you wont be touching the potential of the SS in the streets

My daily commute is 25 miles each way. And yes, I use my R6 everyday. And I know for a fact the CBR is wayyyy more comfortable than the R6. So if I can do it on the most uncomfortable bike out there, you will have no problems on the most comfortable supersport you can buy.

what exactly is the point of squaring off $300 worth of rubber every 3k miles? if you want to commute, why not do it on something that is good at commuting. like a 250, or a cruiser. or a touring bike. or a normal street bike. or anything but a race replica. if you are going to ride the bike in the twisties then great. but why would you ride it slow in a straight line. boring. get a scooter. maybe a bergman 650

but if its worth it to you simply to uphold an image you see yourself in, then great. spend all your money. dont bother with gear, it will keep people from knowing who is riding the bike.

I use my bike for everything. Yes, it is my daily commuter. But it's also my weekend toy for riding twisties and generally having fun. I'm running dunlop sportmax Q2s which are really incredible tires. They are hard compound in the center and soft on the sides. The best of both worlds.

Besides, it's all about looking cool on your way to work, right?

but you dont really commute a lot... you do a lot of turning so you wear your sides down too... if you drive straight 90% of your driving like most long distance commuters the tires would be squared off after 3 or 4k miles... just look at my bikes. and the 600 has 016s on it too

not to mention you dont use those tires for real riding... you swap back and forth between slicks

Are the dual-compound tires for motorcycles any good for commuting?

I had the Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIs on my Ninjette; they're dual compound radials. I loved them, and highly recommend them.

You don't buy a 06+ R6 for it's comfort. Ask me how I know.....

If you get those you will just end up low-siding and buying a 600

Um, ok...

Anyway, I've heard that getting stuck in traffic on a 600+ bike is hell. From my understanding they heat up a bit quicker and can toast your legs (and other bits) quite nicely.

^^What he said.

Also, I am another commuter on a 600. It works just fine for me. Every bike's comfort level is different depending on the person. I find my zx6r a perfect fit for me, and I have been on it for 2 hours without any major pains. It's not super comfortable by any stretch, but not as bad as some people make it out to be. As some others have stated in this thread, they do heat up QUICKLY. So if you are in a lot of stop in go traffic, it's no fun. But outside of that, it gets the job done.

Now if I could afford two bikes, I'd probably leave the zx home some days and ride a something like a fz6 or ninja 650 as those are more commuter friendly. I can also highly recommend the 650 for a good "everything" bike. I put 6k on mine in 5 months and if I had the $$$ to keep it, it would still be mine with my zx.

I've heard that alright, fairly radical shift from 05 to 06 models(which ones have the fuel tank weakness tho? think it's the 06+)

Granted you don't buy any SS for comfort, get a sports tourer if you're that way inclined.

Only one I've ruled out so far is the CBR600RR

I am pretty fit with good core strength and it still took me a month of so of weekends to really get used to the new ergo of the R6.

Yea, 06+ have the tank sliding/fire issue, hence you need tank sliders for any real hardcore aggressive or track riding.
