One more new guy from Sacramento CA

Hey everyone,
I'm 28, stationed in Sacramento right now, and picking up my first bike today. I'm getting a 2010 Blue 250r and it's my first ever bike so I'm pretty excited about it...okay I'm more than excited, I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas!!

So yeah, I don't know much but I completed the MSF course and I got my license so I plan on practicing for a long time in an empty parking lot right by my place until I get comfortable on it. I'm looking forward to reading and learning from you guys/gals.

I ordered my Shoei RF-1100 helmet, Cortech jacket, Cortech gloves, and Alpinestars boots that should be delivered with the bike...

I see guys riding around in wife beaters and shorts with a helmet and think WTF?!

I like having skin on my body so I think I'll always keep my gear on

Stationed in Sac? Are you in the military? Not sure if you're familiar with the area but I am from Folsom, only about 30-45 mins away depending which part you are coming from so I know all the surrounding areas very well.

I am in the navy tho and am stationed in DC right now

Yes I'm a Sergeant in the Marines. I'm attached to the recruiting unit out here. I vaguely know where Folsom is at but I really don't know too much about the area up here.

Oooh ok that makes sense. Well good luck with the ninja! Once you get your skills up I would say take a ride up to south lake Tahoe. Its a beautiful scenic ride with some nice back roads and twisties as well. It's also a pretty easy straight shot. Just take US-50E all the way up and follow the signs South Lake Tahoe is beautiful all times of the year!

I've heard about South Lake Tahoe from a few of the people I work with. I'm gonna have to take a trip up there this year since it may be my last year here before I get orders somewhere else.

Only thing about taking the bike is that I won't have room for the wife and kid lol So it looks like we'll be taking the twisties in her Scion xB instead
