Bear Mountain Saturday August 17th????

I would like to ride up there on Saturday, anyone like to meet up and go? I am located in Brooklyn, Caesars Bay/TD Bank Exit 5 off the Belt Parkway is an easy spot for me to meet up with anyone.

so who is in? I am flexible on time to meetup and place as well.

Josh, is the "Kent" where you're from Kent, Connecticut?

I got clearance to head off and ride Saturday so I'm up for a BM run, or western CT, or whatever. Need to continue breaking in in my new suit anyway.

If Bear Mountain, how about meeting at the big traffic circle in Peekskill?

Okay, let's make this happen. Here's the mention list from Panda's last ride to get people's attention:

@eddiekay, @Percious, @nycsteve, @kraazy, @urbaninja, @Brooklyn, @fizzer914, @Bigballsofpaint, @adouglas, @tc.young, @fr1dayn1ght, @Lucagst, @Chill_Moto, @setasai, @SSG54, @gallardo73, @BlackNinja8, @Alienjoe, @Rollin.., @lux, @YamiLionheart, @BlueHairSar, @Trubin, @gator, @MattS91, @LittleRedNinjette, @Taiken84 @Klondike1020 @Taiken84 @IF13 @squrtlesride @MattS91 @Yaozer @parox91

Map here:
http://goo.gl/maps/zAIKK

Route is pretty much the same as Panda's from a few weeks ago, run in reverse. Open to modification by consensus.

Summary:
  • Meet at the traffic circle in Peekskill, intersection of 6 and 202. Big Mobil station for gas.
  • Run up to the BM bridge.
  • Head north, do a run up and back on Storm King Highway.
  • Back to the traffic circle at the bridge - if people are hungry, we can eat at the BBQ place (good food) either at this point or after we do the BM/Seven Lakes loop.
  • Up Bear Mountain to the summit
  • Seven Lakes Drive.
  • Loop back to the Palisades Parkway, then a blast back to the BM bridge/Peekskill and home. People can split off at the Palisades Parkway if they just want to head home.

I'm thinking of kickstands up at the Peekskill Mobil station at 10:30, by popular demand.

Ride rules:
- Use standard group ride procedure and etiquette. Basically don't be a jerk (nobody here is, but it bears reminding folks).
- This is about the group, not about speed. We won't be going all that slow, but it's not a race.
- Effort will be made to not lose people, but everyone is responsible for themselves. Please try to keep up and have navigation (map/GPS) so you can get home if you do get lost.

If you get terminally confused and we're on the Bear Mountain side of the river head east (sun over your right shoulder) until you hit 9W/202 and then turn south. You'll run into 287.

I am gana head up upstate to the "little pond" campgrounds tomorrow morning 85 more miles northwest of bear mountain, I think it would be great to do a little ride along halfway to my destination Maybe we could get some food somewhere at stony-point, and part our ways later in the morning.

Near as I can tell, just me.

I also posted this on Band of Riders and have one possible participant.

Matt, a BoRn guy who was on the last ride, suggested that clarification of pace is in order. He noted three paces that seem a handy guideline:

Slow: Like you'd drive a car.
Medium: Spirited but not ridiculous.
Fast: Cars will be passed, quickly. Corners will be carved.

I'm thinking medium. The last BM ride was on the slow side except at the front, which is why we got so strung out.
