Please help. Price check on Ninja 250 Good Deal?!

Here are some pics.
I brought him down to 2500.
Its a 2010 250 with 8k miles. Only damage is those chips on the right side. is that a concern? also, what do I check for when buying? this is my first bike ever.

Deal doesn't sound too bad... Bike was definitely dropped at some point (not a big deal). I'd try to weasel a little more out of him.... I bought my newgen back in June of 2014 and it had 9k miles 2012 model Almost no damage at all.

Believe it or not, I got more attention from females with the candy green 250 than I ever did with my 300.

I wouldn't go for one that's been down and kept outside, probably uncovered (based on the rust seen on the pipe and some bolts). You can find cleaner ones for around 2500 or so, around here at least. Aside from that just know that you will need the reflectors front and rear sides as well as back for inspection... tiny detail but wanted to mention.

I suggest finding someone local (maybe even from here) that knows bikes to take with you, offer to buy dinner or something now could save you tons later.

Good link on buying a used bike...

I got mine for 2300 with an hjc helmet it's an 09 that had 1860 miles when I got it and it was never dropped but a few light scratches. Idk if the prices are a little higher where you live I'm from northeast ohio but I'd probably look for a better deal

FWIW I bought my 11 SE with 1650 miles on it for $2500 about a month ago. He was asking $2800, but wanted it gone so I got it for a bit less. The only thing missing was the tool kit.

Good ones are out there, I guess I just got lucky on Cycle Trader. Not sure if I paid too much or not, but I really like the bike and it has one scratch on the tank, so my OCD won't be in overdrive.

For the $2500 range I would expect to see 1000-10000 miles. "A lot" I would guess to be north of 30,000 but service and condition would be important there, I have heard of others with 50-70k.

how's the silver working for you?

get him on tires, since you don't want those tires anyway (they're fine for slower riding though) $2500 is pretty fair around here though
@slolane I just realized that you're from MD and you have over 1000 posts but I can't remember coming across them or riding with you. How is this possible

Simple, cause I'm on a ninja, lol!

Actually I joined a while ago (maybe before you did?) and had 2, 250's (along with a ton of other bikes) but bought a new 300 last year. Since I have sold all my other bikes and am just focusing on the 300 now. I'm about an hour or so south of you so will try to make a group ride, if there are any this season.

Too soon to tell for sure. But I think it's actually going to be the most attention grabbing of them all. Little kids just stare at me when I ride by haha. Haven't really ridden by many women yet though.

That's possible, I joined a few years ago (2012) but wasn't that active at first. I'm fairly busy with a ton of track riding and working but I try to make it out to group rides when I can

Normally, sellers will not allow test rides unless they have "cash in hand"....meaning you're allowing him to hold $2500 cash while you test ride and if you drop the bike, it's yours now.

What should it feel like? If you never rode/owned a bike before, you'll never know since you have nothing to compare it to.

Just check for weird sounds and when you test ride, make sure the brakes work and there's not front end shaking and the bike isn't trying to throw you onto the ground.

From the looks of that bike, it looks like it's in good shape.

Always a good idea to bring someone else along with, also take your time checking it out, you notice more after more visual length. Don't be in a hurry to make the purchase.

Talking

Hey bud i just bought my 08 ninja 250 about 2 months ago i got mine for a $1000 with 3k miles on her it had been laid down by the guys daughter on the left side and she slid up against the wall on the side of there house on the right side so he decided to sell it since she couldn't handle it the left faring had road rash the right had minor scratches and when i took it for a test drive the speedo died and the tach didn't work he didn't want to sell it to me because of this. I talked him in to it and took it home found out the cable came lose for the speedo it works fine now and the tach works after 5 min into the ride or being warmed up. so now i have a bike with minor body damage that runs amazing and i couldn't be happier needless to say don't not buy something just because it had a few issues things can be fixed but make sure it wont cost a lot to do the fixes first.

I bought my '08 250 in a similar manner, but mine was unrideable because of a broken handlebar. I put less than $200 into it and sold it for a grand profit.

I just bought a 2013 Ninja 300 in mint condition,6k miles with new DRII's on it for $2500. gotta keep your eyes open for a good deal. I was looking for a ninja but that deal was too good to pass up.

Not sure what that may mean.

Sounds like the bike was lowered. Not necessarily a bad thing. My bike is too. That may explain the damage if it was a short rider. I tipped over in a parking lot with my old bike once.

you could run a carfax report on it if your realy worried.

If it realy feels off check into another 250. Where in nj are you?

lowering links can be a pain in the ass if you try doing it your self mine was lowered and i bought the factory links for 20 bucks and my ex stepdad who is a mechanic puttem on for free he also has a lift to use which makes it easy also cracks and weathering minor damages shouldn't be a huge issue for your first bike as long as its not hurting your bikes performance or causing unsafe riding.
