1/12 Sunday Afternoon Ride - Mt Hammy!

@Jiggles has Sunday off and wants to ride. I'm busy in the morning, but can play that afternoon. Anyone want to do Mt. Ham? Should be sunny and warm by that point in the day.

Meet up at noon at the McKee Starbucks (2707 McKee, corner of McKess and Capital). Clutches out at 12:15 or so, it's only a few blocks to get to the start of Mt. Ham road. Won't plan on heading out to Del Puerto, and will likely go straight North at the Junction out Mines Road. Rumor is that the Junction has been closed, so maybe grab munchies ahead of time in case there are no supplies there.

If I'm not there when you guys meet up its because I'm still coming down the Mt. And I'll look for you guys going the other way. Post up who shows up tomorrow so I know what kind of group and bikes I'm looking for.

That looks like a solid route

What's your opinion on Mines Rd and Mt. Hamilton? Level of difficulty, road conditions, unexpected hazards like gravel, etc....

It's just a road. It's very twisty road, with some fun elevation changes up and around the mountain. But it's just a road. There are a couple things that make it more challenging than a ride to the corner store (it gets very remote, it's unforgiving if you do go off the road at higher elevation, there is gravel from time to time, especially in the winter). But if a rider doesn't ride over their head, there's no reason that even a newer rider can't successfully enjoy it. Between Mines/Mt. Hamilton and Marsh Creek/Morgan Territory; those are the roads I used to learn how to ride from month 1.
