DiSalvo Speed Academy - Barber 9/27-9/28

Have any of you ever taken this class before? I saw @r6boater's son took it a couple years ago. I'm going to Barber 9/27-9/28 and I'm seriously considering taking this class so I'm curious if anyone else has anything to share about it.

A couple of my friends have taken it. They did come back faster and raving about the experience. In hindsight, I kinda wish I had went with them . 2 of them are now nearly exclusively racing and doing pretty well.

Well... looky there. I happen to be free that weekend. Curse you for tempting me. Honestly, I cannot commit right now and it's at barber, so it will sell out fast.

What's the cost?

I had a friend take Ed Bargy at TGPR. TGPR is a hillbilly track compared to the world class nature of Barber but I'm sure some of the theories still apply. FWIW he said he absolutely loved it. He was shaving seconds off of his laps with every session after taking that class.

Yes, Draik has taken the class several times, including taking it on his Ninja at JGP the past two Decembers (his previous times were on his 125GP).

The class is fantastic! I have been with Draik through a couple other race schools and JSDA is by far the best and most comprehensive he's been to. We highly recommend it.

Well maybe you can make it. There's a few months to go yet. I'm sad I can never make it to the mid-ohio track because it's like 16 hours from here. I can at least make Barber in 10. That's why I frequent Hallett in Oklahoma and the Texas tracks.

I've got a buddy who has also taken that class. Said it was about $500 and really good. The DiSalvo school is $594 for non-members at STT, $10 less for members ($45 membership to STT). I'd love to do both days, but I think I can only afford one day and then a normal track day for Sunday.

And if you can only do one school day, that is the way to do it. You will be able to take what you learn on Saturday and continue to hone on Sunday.

Well I won't be lonely. Bringing at least three buddies with me. But it'd be nice to meet some ninjette folks at the track.

I had a blast last weekend at Barber. I was terrified the first two sessions out due to a variety of factors. I think this video was from session 5. I started up Sunday morning where I left off in session 7 the day before. I was rolling much faster in session 2 Sunday until I spooked myself on the chicane. I couldn't get the bike to turn in to the right. I touched the brakes and then got it to tip in. I pitted in after that and called it a day.

It was an uphill struggle all weekend and that really zapped some of my mental focus going in. The night before we were supposed to leave, all the plans went out the window. My friend's trailer and both his bikes were stolen 15 hours before we were leaving. They decided to stay home after that. Among other things related to the upheavals, I decided I wanted my bike and myself to come home in the same condition as it arrived. superstitions aside, the video is below.
