It says he was found at 100% fault?

How des the law work in California pertaining to this specific incident? I'm assuming the driver was spooked by the other motorcyclist and went towards the one recording; should he have slowed down and got behind the other splitter instead of going around the other side?

[Need to know in case I get pulled over for splitting. ' Born in Cali bro check my cert' ']

100% the other motorcyclists fault. road rage. stupid rider got pissed off and decided to brake check the car after splitting in front (probably cut off the bike earlier or something else stupid and meaningless) i have yelled at quite a few motorcyclists for doing this. its a great way to die. or cause someone else serious injury. it's pretty much the stupidest thing you could do. you need to realize that on a bike, you are not a ****ing car. you do not use your bike to block cars. i could show you a hundred videos of bikes going through cars, and you think its a good idea to use your bike to force someone else who is 99% not paying attention, to slow down in an instant. yes, both bikes were "at fault" since A) you don't pass on the right legally, and B) i think the bike technically rear ended him since there was only one lane and the car was in front of him when he hit him. and the car was trying to avoid an accident. even if he wasn't at fault insurance-wise he was at-fault reality wise, only you are responsible for keeping yourself from crashing. other motorcyclists are the biggest dangers on the road. do not be near danger. that guy looked like he was trying to stay with the other motorcyclist. when someone is being an obvious idiot, don't keep up to get cool footage of the moron. just let them crash away from you.

Ah, I see now that he was brake-checking the car. I agree that it was the other cyclist's fault... Sucks he came out with an injury and [im assuming] a torn-up bike, plus a bill for the cager's repairs.

You think you're good at filtering? Think again.

Not sure if this has been posted already....

Crazy bike handling skills. Crazy control. Note that he never forgets his blinkers. And most of all crazy big balls!

Nice, he does have skill.

Although in terms of lane splitting I think luck is the deciding factor..

Didn't this guy post the video to his local police station saying "Catch me if you can!" and he eventually got arrested for it?

If you feel anything but disgust when watching this video then, in my opinion, you need to rethink your view point.

This guy is an idiot - plain and simple.

At first I was like, ah he's doing it right. The beeping is a nice touch and it's a parking lot anyway so you won't get a lot of people moving around, so long as he keeps riding at a pace that he can react to the cars in front of him popping out it's all good.

and then he goes and decides to up the speed excessively smh

I only split if traffic is at a dead stop or crawling. And even then I'm going MAYBE 20 km/h.

Same. I almost never split unless traffic is crawling at a stop and go pace. Which is less than 1% of the time for me. When I lived in NYC, it was a completely different story. But even then, I didn't split much. The most I'll do is filter up to the red light at a walking pace and be the first to go when it turns green. But that in itself is another risk (cars running the red).

The toll booth approaches....I had a very scary one.....I came between a tractor and a car...the car inched up before i completed the pass and he kinda wedged me in...I got close enough to the fuel tanks on the tractor so that the tank strap caught my boot calf...couldnt back up, couldnt go forward hooked to this fuel tank. Car inched over and i pulled my leg free. I didnt split for like a year after that.

Once you get used to lane splitting it's almost impossible to not. The only time I don't is when I've got all the time in the world and just want to cruise a bit, maybe be a few minutes late to dinner with my girlfriend and her parents.

I'm on the fence I think in slow moving traffic it should be legalized I dont think that you should split when traffic is moving at speed. And if you split you should only be going 10mph faster then the rest of traffic. Where I live it is illegal and it is so tempting. I need to save up for that ticket before I actually do it.

Lane splitting should be completely legal, but only while going at a speed of 10mph or less.

how about within 15mph of the flow of traffic, it's dumb to fly by cars and it's also bad to pass too slowly so 10-15 faster than the cars you're passing is likely the safest speed, depending on the speed of traffic

Yes, I lane split slow or stand-still traffic. Yes, it can be dangerous.

On that note; a few weeks ago I was riding into NYC and was debating splitting traffic was awful and it was a pretty tight squeeze. Had another ninjette zip by. I was like, eff this, if he can do it I can do it. Just followed his every movement. Some of the trickiest (and scariest) splitting I've ever done, but totally worth it.

Lane splitting where it has always been, like here in the uk is fine because car drivers are used to it.

The whole London dispatch rider scene exists on the back of lane splitting to cut through the traffic. The only problems in London come from foreign drivers who don't know our laws.

The problem US authorities would face would be a spike in lane split accidents after the laws were changed. You and I know that after 6 months it would normalize but opponents would surf that spike all the way to repeal of the liberation

I used to live in CA where it was legal and I loved it, especially when I was commuting. Now I live in CO, where it is not legal and it's hard *not* to do it! LOL! Traffic isn't as bad here, but there are still spots it would come in handy... Sadly, a lot of the people I saw splitting in CA were doing it above speeds that was safe... Traffic slowed from 65 to 45 and I'd see tons of bikes going through at 55 or higher! Which is why any time I bring up lane splitting to my cage friends, they hate the idea, because that's all they see, the a$$hats that don't split safely and use lane splitting how it was intended...
