Triumph Daytona 675r Emergency Stop With Pillion

Link to original page on YouTube.
From the video author:

Quote:
No ABS emergency braking in effect on a Triumph Daytona 675R. 2-up, Almost Forced Into T-bone Accident by Irresponsible Driver. Close call on motorcycle, car pulls out in front of bike at 4-way intersection. South Florida.

A car making a left turn pulls out in front of my passenger and I, immediately coming to a dead stop. We were traveling no more than 50 mph before the near miss. The rear wheel locked up and slid a bit but, as a result of down shifting (engine braking) and emergency braking, all is well.

That was close... Be safe and keep the rubber side down!
I think the rider did a pretty good job.

I'd feel better if I knew that t-shirt had a protective Dainese logo on it though

good save. scary.

i also blame bad civic engineering. why doesn't a high speed intersection that large have a protected (i.e. signal controlled ) left turn lane?

high speed limits in front of un controlled left turn lanes = danger.

One of the reasons I feel good about riding a sport bike is the excellent brakes. I hope I never have to come that close to justify my decision, however!

Ive had countless people cut me off like this ... never two up... and I ride extra extra cautious in traffic....

That guy was moving and he stopped so well and didnt lose his cool!

I mightve pulled in the gas station and cussed the cager out.

He saved it and remained the bigger man!

if they did that to me and then stopped right there, i would definitely have followed them in to inform them of their mistakes with some ... abrasive words.

Wow! The driver failed to see any of the cyclists, the one filming and the two in the next lane behind the car they were aiming to get behind on the way into the station.

Yet more reminders to always ALWAYS pay attention!
