What was your dream car back when you were in high school?

I drooled over quite a bit, but this car took the cake.

1993 Ford Mustang Cobra

Later in life I had a friend who had a red '93 cobra with a Vortech blower on it. That sucker was crazy fast. I never got to drive it though.

Still, I'm a sucker for foxbody Mustangs....

Next to a '68 Mustang (preferably a GT390), this car is 2nd.

The problem is finding one. They were dirt cheap when I was into mustangs. Now a typical foxbody GT is going for 1.5-2x (or more) what it did back in '03.

I kind of put my car hobby on the back burner. I am not into it like I used to be. Plus it can be insanely expensive. Then there is the storage issue. Right now, my bicycles are the main hobby of mine. Expensive initially, but when taken care of, they will last years and years.

Besides, I'd be more likely to get one of these than another car as a toy:

EDIT: oh, and I have had my share of mustangs....
1985 2.3L LX hatch
1993 2.3L LX Hatch
1986 5.0L LX Hatch
1987 5.0L LX Hatch
1989 5.0L GT 'vert
1999 3.8L Coupe (this one had a 150 shot on it, man it was fun)
2003 GT Coupe
And I'm sure I left out one or two...

Always had a boehner for the Saleen S7.

I'll never get close enough to even breathe on one of them though. Realistically I could see myself in an Evora S or tesla roadster though.

Saleen S7....

A guy pulled up in an S7 to a local cafe I used to frequent on my bicycle. I pedaled up as this guy was parking. He decided he needed 4 parking spots to "keep people away from it". This was at around 10:45am...right before the lunch crowd would start to show up (typically around 11am-ish). The owner proceeded to kindly ask the man to park his car properly. The guy refused, saying people would be jealous and ding it, and he didn't want to take the chance. The owner then asked the guy, "why in the world would you drive something that you are constantly in fear of something happening to it??"

They went back and fourth. Finally, he refused service to the guy until he parked the car properly. Voices were raised, but he remained professional...the guy in the Saleen did not. He was cussing up a storm. I was laughing in the corner, as were others. Then the guy stomped out of the cafe, hopped back in his S7 and drove off....very, very slowly. True story.

Seriously, I could never own something I would not feel okay with parking it at the local Best Buy. If you are worried about it, don't drive it and park it in public places. Better yet, don't get it in the first place!

That was my first taste of AWD. Back when I was doing auto-x with my Honda Civic EX, I got to ride in a bug-eye. He had shocks and brake pads...that is it. That thing gripped like no other car I have ever been in. It was simply amazing. I have loved Subaru since.

"Dream" as in a car that I'd want to actually own and drive i the real world? Porsche Targa or Jaguar XKE

"Dream" as in anything with four wheels? Porsche 917 or Ford GT40

"Dream" as in the idea of the coolest car? That's easy. TV series Batmobile or the fabulous Mach 5

Besides, Trixie was HAWT

But then again, so was Batgirl….

almost to numerous to name, lets see though

When i was quite young i was a sucker for Ferrari, and Lambo's, The old lambo countach, and ferrari testarossa were kings.

Then came the Diablo, and the Viper was sick when it first was introduced.

In highschool i moved towards rare Jaguar sports cars, the XJR220 and XJR 15

Then to semi realistic dreams The Mitsubishi 3000gt was boss!!
And i Started liking Lotus Elise....and still like the little Lotus's

Purchased a little Civic Si in 2009 was awesome car, super fun but economical. Got rid of that and have WRX now it is again super fun, kind of economical?

Dream car now.... would like a nice 4x4 pick-up lol, maybe a nice Tundra or F150 Crew cab

I almost bought a white tundra crewmax limited with the red rock leather. Such a beautiful truck. Good thing I didn't though. It would be a nightmare in the city. If I had to buy a new truck now it would be a new f150 fx2 for sure. Handsome as hell and that ecoboost v6 is a beast. Btw, you might be surprised how cheap you can get a used elise.

Thanks to Miami Vice, this was first on my list.

2nd one was thanks to Knight Rider

I thought it to be a total joke when they redid Kit as a Mustang in the newer version of the TV show. The mustang was cool yes but never had the same feeling.

Nice.

I want a FFR MK4 AC Cobra replica (a type 65 Coupe would be a close 2nd). That will be a go to if I cannot find a '67-'68 Fastback.

I keep seeing this sentiment. Why is there no love for the exotic VAG anymore?

Look at it here. Too risque to show on this forum.
