New Rider from AL
Hi All!
I took the MSF BRC last weekend, finished up my gear yesterday (atgatt) and got my M endorsement today. I am ready to ride! I plan on buying a new 2011 Ninja 250 and I've found a dealer with the model I want, but they're 80 miles away so I'm considering hauling it back rather than driving it. My question to you: my means of transport is a station... uh, sport wagon. Do you foresee any issues with turning the bike on its side, shoving it in the back and driving it home? (besides the difficulty of me getting it out of the car, lol) Judging from the dimensions that I found for the Ninja 250 (82x28x44) it will fit. Last futzed with by money; May 26th, 2011 at 05:59 PM. |

Welcome...
I have a Passat wagon and I've had a full washer and dryer in the back, but I don't think my ninjette would fit... Nor would I try... I called my local bike shop and ask how they delivered new bikes for customers that can't ride, or broken bikes in for repair... It turns out that they had a guy with a flat bed that delivered for $60... You may want to try a bike shop first... Good luck... |

Welcome, an u might get it in the wagon but if it was me I don't want my baby on her side. And my dealer delivered for free when I got myn u can get them to give that to u to buy that day. But 80 miles might be a way to get to know her if u have the experience.

Aloha and welcome, Jason.
I wouldn't stuff the bike into the back of the car on it's side. Too many chances of damaging it. Work delivery into the deal when you purchase the bike. most dealers will do it for free... some will charge a fee. |

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I finally broke down and asked my dad for truck/trailer assistance and we're going to check out the bike tomorrow.
