What RPM on highways for extended period of time?
I was riding with a group of people, who traveled at 80-90mph on average for close to an hour. I figured after that ride it was prob best to ask whats the rpm limit to which things arnt very good on your bike.

Only way that it causes any damage is if you run low on oil, or extend the oil change interval way past recommended. Otherwise, the bike can run at high revs pretty much continuously.

I dont even know what the oil change suggestion is, but I plan on doing it every 1000-2000 miles.
So riding at 9k-10k for 1 hour straight isnt a issue? |

No. Maintenance schedule can be found in the sticky threads in the tech area.

You can hold like 10k like forever as long as there are fluids to support it.
And my normal race practice session is 1 hour. So no, 10k for an hour straight isn't gunna hurt a thing considering us racers will be 10k - redline for an hour straight and then race it later in the day even harder for another 45 or so minutes. Ride on!

Just check your oil in the morning... The bike burns a little oil through normal operation, especially at high rpm (10k+). As long as you don't run out of oil you should be fine.

Are we supposed to expect it to burn a lot of oil? I'm always on the highway. 1000 miles since last oil change and I've yet to see the oil level go down significantly.

redline all day. My last oil changed that my friend helped me with was 5000 mile old oil and when we started draining he looked at me and was like, you sure this is old oil? it looks almost new.

I have a 15tooth and my bike spends the majority of its time doing 85-95 mph
Occasionally if I want to get a taste of some speed wobbles, I'll hit 100+. I have 12k miles on the bike and it still runs like a champ |

Jealous. Mine's black in two days after an oil change. Then again, it's only my second oil change after having bought this bike brand spanking new.

Try a different brand oil.

That could seriously be the cause?
I think my last two oil changes have been non-synthetic Castrol oil with a 'motorcycle' written on it. I know I can take regular car oil with the proper certs, labels but it's been a pain to find one that isn't synthetic.

Sure, different oils have different additive packages. @iZapp could explain better than I but each oil can begin and end it's life cycle with different properties, such as color. Many things change their properties as they relate to heat and friction.
