is this normal?
so sorry for making new threads all the time. =/
i have a 2004 ninja 250r. it has 2600 miles in it the only mod i had is a 15 tooth front sprocket. (this problem below has been there before this mod). Its been serviced completely since it was sitting for 8 years covered in a storage.. im not sure if the carbs have been cleaned by the previous owner just guessing they where when it got serviced. My question is, when im in 6th gear and i twist the throttle all the way down to where it stops, it feels as if the bike it bogging out, feels as if its getting sluggish. but when i release the throttle little bit from the stopping point (like barley twist my wrist up) it picks up and i can feel the power as its gaining speed. IS THIS NORMAL? or is it dues to dirty carbs. i hope i explained this good enough. |

maybe dirty carbs, maybe dirty air filter, maybe just bad jetting. it may have had different exhaust on it but the PO put the stock exhaust back on without putting stock jets back.
you really can't trust someone when they say full service completed. 9/10 times its bullshit. check all your fluids, clearances, and clean your intake filter and carbs

^^^^ what he said
Not normal. After you do the easy stuff, check for shims on the carb.

Your pre-gen looks like new; hence, she maybe fully stock. What happens is that the engine is receiving too much air suddenly, because the internal mechanisms that the carburetors have to compensate for your input are not working properly. Rather than doing surgery now, I would continue rolling the bike as is. The more gasoline goes through the carbs and engine, the better for this baby to come back to life. Besides giving gas more progressively, as you should, one way to reduce that problem is to keep the engine above 8,000 rpm. If the problem persists after 1000 more miles, then it may be time for a full carb cleaning.

I would guess it's a carb issue. It might not have the stock main in it either. If I were you I would take the carbs off and see if anything is shimmed, or the jets have been changed.

Where did you take it in Kern? I know someone who runs a great shop in that area if you are looking for someone trusted to peek at the carbs.

Yes, Seafoam has helped me delay disassemble-cleaning work, .......... or so I believe.
Daily rides have no substitute.

I'm a firm believer in Seafoam. I've ran it through every used vehicle I've had with good results. Also try "Startron" as a routine treatment...helps with the Ethanol in our Cali Fuel. If the bike is gonna sit for more than a few days then definitely have one of those treatments ran through the fuel system before non-op.
