Colorado Trip

In ~48 hours i will be taking an adventure through Colorado. I have a place to stay sunday night, but I am looking for some recommendations for places to stay monday night. Looking at possible staying Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland or Boulder.

Any recommendations would be great. or if someone in that area has a couch that would be great too.

If you go up through the west side of Fort collins, look up Wrist Canyon. Kick ass ride in a car at least, have been wanting to get the bike up there for it. Just don't go on a weekend, it's filled with rich folk with their Ferrari's and other high end cars.

Day 1 (~800 miles):

Day 1 kicked my ass! but was pretty fun. The day started with getting ~50 miles down the road and realizing I didn't have a phone charger. So when I got to Durango I stopped at an AutoZone(first place in a time crunch) and found one there. The best part was on US160 between Pagosa Springs and South Fork. Unfortunately I got a ticket going into Pagosa Springs for passing on a double yellow. Continuing on my way knowing that sh1t is gonna suck when it gets dark as I only have my smoked color visor. Once you reach the high elevations, the road flattens out and goes straight for what felt like forever! In the horizon you are surrounded by giant peaks, no cowboy not t1ts. I got to Fair Play with limited light shining and that is when I was starting to struggle with visibility. But I progressed through into Denver. Being delayed may have been a good thing, as the Denver area got ravished with a thunder storm around the time I wanted to be there.

Day 2(~500 miles)
This was a day full of flat riding into Nebraska and back to Fort Collins for the night.

Day 3
Today, need anti-inflamitories! I cannot sleep due to my low back! Heading to Montrose CO to stay the night and then head to Durango on the Million $$$ highway. Going to head out of Denver on the same Road I came in on, i feel it is going to be a great road in the day time!

Ahhh, I forgot about the flooding. It's been a while since I have been up there. Damn that sucks. That used to be a twice a week fun drive for friends and I when I was in college.

Today's route was US285 to US50. Both amazing roads to ride. Leaving Denver on 285 has a 4 lane highway for most of the climb up the mountain and marked 50 mph. Can comfortably go 60 with a tank bag and still give the edge of the tires some work. 285 Takes you through the very north end of Pike National Forest(Pikes Peak) and into the center of the state on the south end of the San Isabel Forest. The highway stays pretty straight once you make it up and back down the mountains. I connected with US50 at Poncha Springs and continued west. Again, the road had some beautiful curves and was able to give the sides of the tires some work, unfortunately I hit rain and got soaked at Monarch Pass. I continued down the Mountain to Gunnison. From Gunnison to Montrose, you follow the lake/river for roughly 15 miles of winding in the canyon. It resembles the Grand Canyon, but not quite as deep. I climbed on more mountain and descended into Montrose where I was able to dry from the rain.

Took over three weeks for the numbness in my hand to go away after my first really long trip. Though I found out I have carpal tunnel so maybe not the best one to listen to. Hopefully your's feels better after a while.

Sucks you got soaked over Monarch, it's pretty up there. But cruising along that river is fun, isn't it?
