100 miles today with a few firsts

Longest trip so far today. Est. 100 miles.

I think it's amazing how much cagers miss. I don't just mean not seeing the bikers out there. They don't see anything. Hell, they miss seeing other cars! I hate driving a car now. It's just boring. On the bike, cranial stimulation is everywhere. I was in the middle of the twisties today, down in a tight turn with a puckered butthole and a 5 mile smile and still noticed the faint shadow of a bird cross the road. You just see Everything.

There is a first for everything. Here are a few new ones.

First time seeing 3 digit miles in one ride.
Result: A sore right shoulder from tucking and a sore backside lol

First time turning in full tuck. Comparitively, my previous rides were slow and the back tire was squaring off.
Result: A temporary pucker and a big smile. I've also learned that I like right turns more. I haven't figured out why yet but they feel more natural to me. I just shift over, lean forward, drop my right elbow and roll on that throttle and the bike goes exactly where she is supposed to. Gotta work on those lefts though

First time through a drive thru. Wendy's closes the dining room at 10PM apparently.
Won't be doing that again.

First time waving at another sport rider on the twisties.
So far I've only seen cruisers in my town while I'm out riding around. Today I got to see a mix of just about everything. Even waved to a scooter

There are a few more tid bits, but there always will be. I could talk about riding all night lol. For now, its back to work

Congrats on breaking the 100 mile barrier. There is a lot of riding out there in the hundreds that makes for epic days.

You are right, you miss so much when enclosed in a cage. My favorite are the smells, fresh baked bread, BBQs, flowers, fresh cut hay, rain, sage, etc.

I rode through a drive thru just to get some fries, fun yelling out of the helmet into the speaker. When i got to the window, a dude leaned past the cashier and said nice bike! I said thanks and he looked at me with the most shocked expression ever and ran away. Apparently he thought I was a dude and so my voice embarrassed the crap out of him.

When in the twisties and at any point of a turn, I just nod to other bikers if its safe to do so. Waving is reserved for straights. Its cool getting acknowledgement from others and seeing everyone out having fun!

Next time, pictures! LOL

One day. Location is the main issue. I don't think there are any tracks around me.

If I ever had any complaint about not being in a cage, its the smell of roadkill. That **** is fierce in your helmet.

Being in touch with your surroundings does have it's downsides. On my list are riding past cattle feed lots (yuck) and waste treatment ponds in the summer. The good news is that whatever foul thing you ride by, it will soon be in your mirrors!

Adventure starts when you leave your comfort zone!

My closest track is 114 miles away and I'm going for my first track day next Monday...yay! I wish I had a track 20 miles away...or maybe not, that could get expensive if I wind up liking it a lot.

Congrats on the first 100 mile ride. As you start going on longer rides you'll find even short breaks are worth it. Just a minute or two out of the saddle can cure those little pains that creep up. The key is to take a break before you start feeling the pain.

I've found most of my pain from long rides happens in my knees...I think my body's just not used to having the knee pads from my 1 piece suit pushing against the bent knees for long periods of time. After knees comes lower back, but as long as I take a break every now and then I usually don't feel it anywhere except the knees.

Watch out for gravel and blind corners in the twisties...remember, don't ride faster than you can see, and don't ride faster than your guardian angel can fly (a German tourist told me the guardian angel thing at the Harley dealership the other day...).

You are my hero!

Looks like I have some researching and saving up to do.

And soon, Alex.s, the teacher will become the student

Here's another org that runs Pocono in multiple configurations. Some of them are really really good for a 250 because they are shorter configurations (~1.5 miles). I've ridden the FUSA, Lil Daytona and Inside Track S/E configurations.

Update for you guys:

First time seeing cords on the back tire lol turns out there was less rubber than I thought on that puppy. Just a little bit exposed but I'm not looking for a blowout so its parked until I get new ones. Ill show you guys pictures when I take them. Now I just have to find tight-budget-good-quality tires.

A stock ninja 300 rear tire. The IRC road winner. Look for them slightly used, if not, you won't be buying a new rear for about 9000 miles

On the bike, cranial stimulation is everywhere.
Mental fatigue is a real issue when riding, so that stimulation isn't always the best thing. If you're not riding with earplugs, consider investing in some (at least a box of foam cheapies.) Blocking out some of that wind noise does wonders for your concentration later in the day.

fatigue is no issue with me, my main problem is feeling like my prostate is in my throat after a longer ride. Can't afford a corbin seat and would like to do the spencer seat mod, but I would need a backup seat to have while mine is out being done. Guess I have to just ride on this brick that Kawi calls a seat

While mine was gone I rode my motorcycle twice. The first time I had a seat pad that just sat on the battery. And the second time I just sat on the frame/battery.. . However, I didn't have very far to go. 5 minutes tops.
