Need help! Eliminating ignition tumbler

I want to ditch the keyed ignition on my race bike.
I've searched.....the process isnt clear.....anyone know??
I know there's a resistor involved!

Shadowwolf something has an ignition delete kit. I would look into it more but have not done it

It's not plug-n-play, but might get you closer.

Cut wires from ignition switch.

Connect Grey wire to brown wire with a 100 ohm resistor (say 1/2 watt although 1/4 is probably fine)

Put a single pole, single throw toggle switch between the White wire and the Brown wire. (I used a 20A waterproof marine switch, but anything will work)

Easy Squeezy.

Does that mean i connect the grey to brown (resistor) on one end and then other end of brown wire, connect the switch then to the white wire?

Sorry for the slow reply.

Short answer, No.

Maybe a better way would be to say this:

1 - From the connector, take out everything but the brown, the grey, and the white wire.

2 - Attach the white wire to one terminal of a switch, and the brown wire to the other terminal.

3 - Anywhere along its length, connect the brown wore to the grey wire, using a 100 ohm resistor. The grey wire will go: connector, grey wire, resistor, brown wire.

The brown and grey are allways connected via the resistor, once teh switch is turned on, the power will come from the white wire and flow to the brown wire (ignition), and the grey wire (anti-theft 100ohm signal).

Works like a charm. I slide out the metal tabs out of the connectors, so I could put it all back. Soldered all the connections, just need a good place to mount the switch. Maybe make a little bracket for it.

$7 mod

For mounting the switch,I have done it a couple of ways. The first is to machine a cup which fits into the ignition ring on the triple clamp. Handy method if you have a lathe, not so much if you don't.

Next option which worked really nicely on my R6, is to make a small aluminum plate which bolts onto where the factory ignition switch goes. Drill a hole and mount the toggle switch in the center of the ring on the triple clamp, but mounted down, so that the tip of the switch is even with the top of the ring. Easy to turn on and off, but no chance of doing so accidentally. If you make the plate a little bigger, it gives you a nice spot to velcro your lap timer...

I wired up my switch as described above and my bike won't start. Will the starter engage/bike turn over if the switch and and resistor are wired incorrectly?? Trying to figure out if my not firing problem is a switch/resistor problem or a spark/fuel problem. Thanks

I believe (but do not know for sure) that the starter will engage, but the spark plugs will not fire if the resistor is wrong.

Just to ask... kill switch on run?

Kill switch is off. I have spark. I'd say I have fuel, because the spark plugs were wet when I pulled them. Went to bed and let it dry out. Acts like it flooded and wont start. My other idea is the jets are plugged from sitting, but it wont even crack off with a small shot of 2 of starter fluid. If someone messed with idle idle knob it would still fire and just idle to the moon or chug and die right??
