My Scorpion Exo-700, Animal Within edition, after a get-off at the track (immediately followed by a trip through the dirt) a week & a half ago.

DSC07948.jpg DSC07950.jpg DSC07953.jpg

Just finished putting the SOLAS tape accents on some 2-3 days before the incident (it was the replacement for the matte black Scorpion I posted previously when its lifespan expired). It did its job well though and will be retired with honor

Glad you're ok, good to see the quality of a helmet

How long is the life expectancy on a Scorpion? I have an EXO400 that's seen 1.5 seasons so far.

I got 4 years out of my first EXO-700, probably could've gone longer, but I dropped it from bar-height (don't balance it on your tank, I knew better). In theory, since there was nothing inside, it would be ok, but can't be sure, so figured it was close enough to time & I just replaced it. I've been told to expect to replace a helmet every 3-5 years depending on how much sunlight it gets and how well you take care of it.

This has been my first and only helmet so far so i dont really have anything to compare it to but:

On a windy day going 75, all i can hear is wind; cant hear my exhaust or even my own voice.

On a non windy day going 75, i can hear my self talk and my exhaust just fine.

If that helps at all

Upgraded my IS-MAX a bit. Changed some of the pinstripes and added a red stripe down the center. Also cut up a pair of cheap, old, headphones and made them into helmet speakers. They work surprisingly well; I'm impressed. Thinking about getting a new shield as soon as I have some spare dough.

Does anyone with a scorpion helmet here have the chin skirt here? Does it make it harder to get the helmet on/off, and is it worth the 7 or 8 dollars it cost. It has been down in the 50's and 60's here at night and my face is freezing after a ride even with the vents closed.
Still want this helmet...;(

I heard the modular helmets aren't as safe as full face.... Someone told me he's seen someone smack there chin once which released the face guard then get road rash on their chin because it was no longer protected....

Here's mine... It's a cheap 50$ helmet, but it does it's job... Will get a better helmet soon though, as this one let's in too much air... Also need to get clear visors as this one is a b#*#h to ride at night...

First off, I'm glad to see I'm not the only Mass Effect fan on this forum And I did the same thing with the speakers in my helmet. Found a pair of old headphones that came with my grandma's Walkman decades ago and asked if I could keep them. I popped the headphones out of the bracket that goes across your head and removed the cheekpads in my helmet, placed the headphones in there, and then put the pads back in. They fit perfectly in it and sound surprisingly good haha. Is this what you did to yours?

Yep. Had this old pair of cheap headphones sitting in my drawer, cut them open, popped out the speakers, and stuffed them under the thin section right above the cheekpads where your ears sit. Not terribly loud, but loud enough to hear while riding without drowning out everything (sirens, horns, etc.)

It's a street helmet designed by Icon to share the look of typical motocross helmets. Most helmets with those visors cause problems at high speeds but I've heard from many people who have them, including one or two people here, that Icon's visor somehow doesn't pose the same issues as others. It still of course has some pull to it if you turn your head on the highway but nothing too bad. It also supposedly has a great field of view and the visor is supposed to be crystal clear. I think @trixter can attest to this. I'm actually hoping I can get one of these for my birthday in September.

Going to be getting another helmet soon, as seen below. As a huge WWII buff, the P40e-inspired shark mouth is perfect for me, plus I am going into the Air Force!

I was totally sold out on the etched model till I read this...
