Dropped my bike...

I dropped my bike going 5-10 mph in a parking lot. Signaled for a turn, and my bike just gave out... It wasn't even that sharp of a turn... All I could think of causing this was that there was some oil where it gave or I'm just a noobie still learning.

Broken turn signal, scratched left faring, and some missing bolts.

Not a scratch on me, but my bike needs a little bit of work.

Do I call my insurance or find a shop?

Just replace the turn signal and leave the fairing scratched up in case you drop it again. Maybe try and buff out the scratches but it's not worth replacing. As for bolts, bolts are cheap

What bolts are missing?

That doesn't sound worth reporting or taking it to a shop. You can get a new signal off ebay for $15 and install it yourself, it's pretty simple.

You could probably get new bolts too, depending on the kind. You can visit the following site to see what parts you need. You can order them from here too if you want, but it may not be the best price. I just use it for part numbers:

http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/

Fairings...eh...the main side ones are like $250 per side on average when I search for them on ebay, but if all it is is scratched, you probably don't need to replace it honestly.

I wouldn't make an insurance claim on something that isn't a good amount of money.

Determine which bolts are missing and order some more online (ronayers.com). I'd just leave the fairings...no need to pay $250 for a new one to just drop it and scratch it again. Replace the turn signal or get some flushmounts!?

Alright, I might need a new fairing though... Its damaged to a point where the socket that holds the turn signal fell off along with the turn signal itself.

That's a big scratch.lol

Hmm...you might be able to get an adhesive and "fix" it, but it looks like there will be some gaping holes left (unless you have those pieces too).

I might pony up the $250 and order the fairing at that point, but it's obviously your call.

If you want to, go to eBay and search "ninja 250 fairing" (put a year in there too, like 08 or whatever) and browse around. You should be able to find the one you need.

Also, don't worry too much about it. It does suck, but it happens to a lot of people. I dropped mine on my second ride and busted a turn signal right off.heh

[rant]
There is just something not right with those turn signal stalks... I mean common, you walk by your bike and just barely hit them with you knee and they break. But... if you go down there is a hell of a good chance it will just punch a hole right in the fairing.
[/rant]

If you want to fix that, some plastic weld for the cracks, fiberglass for the hole and a blue sharpie should take care of the paint. Bummer

Thanks for the advice guys. Man I suck at descriptions... for some reason I'm thinking scratch = crack..

I'm probably going to fork over the cash for a new fairing and probably invest in some flush mounts soon.

I found the left fairing on Ronayer, but can someone please verify if I'm ordering the right part. Part no. is 55028-0271-620. That should also be painted correct?

I'm sorry to hear about the bike, but glad you're alright.

I use partshark.com. I can't get to it on my phone, but they have the schematics with part numbers so you can verify.

And I have a mix of 08 and 09 fairngs on my bike and you wouldn't know. As long as the color matches, they should all be the same.

They'll fit, but the colors won't match..unless your bike is green or black. The blues and reds (maybe even the green, idk) are different each year.
