What Kind of Motorcycle Are You?

So, what kind of motorcycle fits your personality? Take the test, be honest and report back. I'm a YZF-R1, and actually, I'm a bit disappointed I'm not something a bit more conservative and responsible.

How disappointing. It tells me I am a Harley 883.

Ugh.

I'm pretty sure that bike can't handle the riding I do. I'm not entirely sure that I could outpace myself on the 883 vs. me on my wife's TU (straights excluded).

I got a Yamaha FJR1300. Not sure about that one.

Though from the little write up there were a few things that were true. Or at least I wish were true.

I can live with this:

Your result for The Motorcycle Personality Test...Ducati ST4s
You scored 4 moxie, 9 zeal, and 9 pomp!

You love riding, simply for the sake of riding. On the way to work, you sometimes find yourself taking the long way. The 50-miles-of-back-roads long way. Your mastery came about as a side effect from your love of the sport, although to be honest, you originally got into it because you thought a motorcycle would make you look cool.

You need a bike that can handle your addiction to the twisties as well as reasonably carry two on a weekend trip through the mountains. Because you are a bit image-conscious and have a touch of ego, your bike is a Ducati. A practical Ducati, but a Ducati nonetheless.

Yamaha YZF R1

You scored 9 moxie, 9 zeal, and -3 pomp!

You're addicted to speed, but have the knowledge and experience to match. Although you like to win, you don't really care so much about competing with others as much as competing with yourself.

Your bike is the Yamaha YZF R1. Given how easily the rear wheel on this beast spins up coming out of turns, it is fortunate that you constantly work to improve your skills. (I've seen more R1s crash at track days than any other bike.)

It was a close decision with the Suzuki GSXR1000, but your personality seemed a bit more R1-ish.

I think I will keep my Blackbird:

So I scored:

-2 Moxie
4 Zeal
0 Pomp

Copy/paste of the description:

You scored dead center average, lacking any of the personality quirks that normally drive people to motorcycling.

However, if you do ride, statistics would suggest that you are destined for a Harley-Davidson, probably something in the Softail line.

You might have noticed that's a lot of moolah for an (arguably) obsolete piece of machinery, and you're too rational and attitude-free to need the Biggest and Baddest that the marketeers tell you to buy. A far more reasonably priced taste of the Harley Kool-Aid is the 883 Sporty, a fun little beast that leaves you with plenty of cash to customize.

On the other hand, the only reason I'm bringing up the Harley-Davidson product line at all is due to the fact that Harley is the choice most people think of when they consider getting into motorcycling, and that's mostly because they don't know much about the alternatives.

Thought experiment: if you were the only person left on earth, and you could pick any motorcycle you wanted, what would you choose? Best looking or best engineered? Your test results don't really point in any direction strongly, so I'll try to nudge you towards substance over style.

Consider: a FXST Softail weighs 629lbs dry, the base version starts around $14k, and will make 75-80hp -- after you tweak it with pipes and a jet kit. A Buell XB12R weighs 395lbs dry, costs $10.5k and makes 103hp, stock. An Aprilia Tuono R weighs 417lbs, costs $12k, and makes 125hp, stock. (We won't even mention the bang for buck of the Japanese competitors.) Still a fan of retro-classic styling? Then at least consider Harley's V-Rod, which mixes in some modern engineering into the equation (596lbs, 125hp, $17k).

While the Sportster is a reasonable compromise, you may discover that you enjoy the added feedback provided by standard-style bikes such as the Suzuki SV or the Ducati Monster. (If you must hang with the Harley crowd, they'll be less likely to give you grief if you choose the Buell, though.)

You have the potential to be a great rider. Take the MSF class, and choose a bike that won't hold you back!

Ducati 996

You scored 7 moxie, 8 zeal, and 12 pomp!

You exhibit an overexuberance in all respects that cannot be satisfied. Your attitude and ego are over the top, yet you actually have the skills to match. Its infuriating. People would hate you, but you're too damned nice. You always ride like its your last day to live, and leave bystanders vaguely aroused.

Your bike is the Ducati 996. Sex on wheels.

lol...I can be full of myself sometimes.

further thoughts: yeh, this thing really nails me on the head. I'm usually not to cocky around people I don't know, but my best friends and I are always trying to one up each other, so there is a lot of competition there. I'm NEVER satisfied with myself. I'm incredibly hard on myself, and that has driven me to reach for the stars and try so many new things. It's kind of funny, this is one of the better quizzes I've taken.

Another thing. After completing this test why not tell us the color of your ninjette. I think my Red ninjette matches this outcome perfectly.

I'll be honest, Chris, yours sounds more like me, and I am in love with the Ducatis.

It's OK, my wife and I have an understanding. Now I simply need to finish up my degree and that white 848 is mine.

You're a bit of a snob, but otherwise well-adjusted.
Your bike is the Ducati Monster. Sexy. Powerful. Agile. Italian style in a badass matte black.

Of all the test takers, you are most likely to have been hoping for your result to indicate that your bike is a Harley. It isn't. Sorry. You show the potential to become a superior rider, and you need a bike that encourages and rewards your learning. The Harley will just hold you back, and you'll have nagging feelings that something is wrong.

The Suzuki SV series is also a good bet, but it wouldn't appeal to you. Far too Common.

Oddly enough the Monster and the SV are probably the highest two bikes on my list for replacement for my Ninja when I decide to get another bike.

You scored 7% on moxie, higher than 70% of your peers.

You scored 11% on zeal, higher than 88% of your peers.

You scored 1% on pomp, higher than 25% of your peers.

I think I should have picked the badA$$ fridge than I might have been a Ducati

Take your test and shove it! What was that guys name? All I know is he's still dead.
It looks like you do not agree with the results. What kind of bike did it say you were?

i didn't take/finish damn thing, i'm not going to lie. my riding is done alone, whenever i want and where i want, so it's a special ride right there. but during rides i look up because i feel so special, so lucky to be enpowered with this thing called cycling i thank God. a totally natural high along A1A (35mph) or after a speedrun on one of the everglades expresses. look at the answers for "why do you ride?" and that's just one of many questions that just missed the entire world of riding and/or types of rides. peace out.
