2012 Ninjette changes?

Do you think there will be any drastic changes to the current ninja for next year? I for one, hoping Kawasaki will spice it up. What do you all think?

It would be awsome to see some new things since the new Honda is coming out but I think it will be simple the year and hopefully next year some big changes to compete but I'm new to all this so I'm probably wrong

EFI maybe? Haha not likely, but one can always hope! I'm still looking for my bike, I may just wait and see what changes they have for 2012.

As far as aesthtics go? I doubt it. How many years did they go between changes in the last generation?

The talk seems to be that Kawi will find a way to put Fuel Injection in and keep price the same MSRP. I don't know if that will be 2012.

Two things imho would be worthwhile for kawi to do. One is to increase production on the 250. The other is to bring the 500 up to date.

a modern, more sporty 500, i would jumpy all over. No need for a 600 and the 650 is not attractive to me.

Kawasaki wont change anything on them asthetically or even performance wise, unless the dollars stop flowing.

We might see FI, but I doubt it. The carbed ninja still performs better than the Honda. So I dont see them wasting time on it.

From Kawasaki's standpoint, they are selling more than ever, the demand is high, and there is little competition. Why change it?

I think you will see a new yamaha small displacement bike before you see any major changes to the ninja.

That is how i felt when i use to fly airplanes..... I was too distracted with the fancy GPS and never flew the plane.... long story short, everything will become second nature with more ninja seat time

It'd be nice if they do some engine work, or bore it out and slip a few extra horses in!

Colours; honest opinion I think they should bring back The Solid Colours because they IMO look better. Yes the new ones look good, but solid options should be available at cheaper prices!

Subliminal message.

I would like to see a 2012 with EFI and a digital gauges that includes a CLOCK. Oh, how I hate reaching for my cell phone at stops to see what time it is.
Kawasaki, are you listening?

you guys are haters, I love the way my 500 looks! not as sexy as a modern bike but still I get compliments from it a lot. But its out of production now and I doubt if they made a new generation it'd sell as much as the 650. the 650 isnt that much more powerful than the 500, I'd like to have that extra 150ccs for the added torque. Right back on topic... I think subtle changes like efi and a digital instrument cluster would be nice, but not the motogp kind like the 09+ 650 and the new zx-10r i don't like those :P

How about a wider rear tire from the factory? 130/70 rear looks like a front tire. 140 maybe, 150 rear looks great with no real lack of performance

I agree. I predict a color addition or change because it is almost a no cost item and yet makes the product appear fresh and updated. I suspect anything else is really very unlikely until sales drop precipitously.

Raise the tank indentations for a larger variety of riders, efi would be cool i guess but not worth an extra $500+. Idk why people complain about the rear tire size, it looks fine to me, and smaller tires = less $$$ to buy them which incorporates into the ninjettes affordability. A more comfortable seat would be nice, my butt hurts after about 1 1/2 hours. Longer stock mirrors wouldn't kill them either...

Why update the 500 when there's already a 650? If you look at it from a pricing standpoint, it's not like the update of a 500 would allow for a DRASTIC price drop compared to the 650.

I'd like to see them drop the banana off the 650r too, but I have a feeling they will leave it for a bit since I know the market demand for a solid 600+ bike for riding two-up is strong.

The only realistic changes I'd like to see on the 250r would be FI and a prettier front end. Digital gauge would be nice, but nothing major. In the end, I'd still want to replace it with a Koso anyways haha.

EDIT: Also, a 'working' fuel gauge. Today I was panicking because I was on E but my fill up was only 3.3gallons.....................................

I don't expect major changes to the 2012 Ninja. Maybe they bring over the european model with EFI to North American shores, but that's not really a change as that model is already in production. Any major changes will be reserved for the next gen, when Suzuki and Yamaha join the discussion.

The Kawasaki dealer's meeting (pdf. notes) states the 250 Ninja will basically look the same but there will be suspension and engine up dates. Horsepower will be bumped up to 37 HP with a new head design and bigger valves. There still won't be fuel injection. The rear swing arm will be wider to accept a beefier rear wheel and tire. The front forks will be fully adjustable. Brakes will be 6 piston. The best improvement will be a lower price which Kawaski hopes will axe the Honda 250.

A clock would be SO NICE. C'mon Kawasaki!

In the mean time, a 400 with an I4 or triple would be a killer replacement for the ninja 500R

I'm assuming you work for a dealer? I have no need for a 600, I just wish the little Ninja had a little more Oomph!
