Rear stands?
I'm wondering which stand to get, but I don't want to spend over $100 for one. I went to the dealer where I bought my bike from and they wanted $80 for a universal aluminum rear stand, yet Harbor Freight has the same thing for 40. It looks cool, but seems cheap and not very well made. I also want to get a 15 tooth front sprocket and was wondering which brand to get.

I just got a set of front and rear stands by Venom or something like that from Amazon for 74 bucks shipped.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o01_s00_i00 They seem to do the job well enough. Although I have only had them for about 4 days. Plus shipping took about 10 days because I ordered them at 3am on a saturday morning.

I second the Harbor Freight stand. It cost $20 and works perfectly fine. No complaints.

I've gotten two rear CIA stands from Craigslist for $60 each, they retail for around $130 (http://ciastands.com/rearsportbikestand.aspx). I've seen used Pittbull stands go for about the same price on craigslist as well. If you can be patient just watch craigslist and you can find a good quality stand for a good price, those harbor freight stands are a bit too flimsy for my liking.

i have t-rex stands. both front and rear for $124.90. haven't had a single problem with them.
http://www.t-rex-racing.com/ i also have a 15 tooth JT sprocket. JT sprockets are one of the best and not expensive at all. $20-$25 for a 15 tooth. http://www.jtsprockets.com/ |

I'm using the Trackside stands from Cycle Gear. They aren't Pitbull, but they work.

Did it break apart or something? I can't see how the stand could drop your bike. I can see how it may not be seated correctly on the fork ends and cause it to come off the side.

Yea pitbull for sure. Mine is coming soon, the T rex stand is just not sturdy enough plus it scratched my 1k's swing arm. Its not a bad stand I just want a better one

The main reason I sliced off that long fender extension on our '08 was that it interfered with lifting the bike on a rear-stand.

Didn't seem to make a difference. I don't think that extension was wide enough to do anything other than hold the reflector at the end.

I got the Harbor Freight one. It holds the bike up pretty good. Once I had it up I shook it from side to side and front to back purposely trying to make it tip over or see if the bike would move off the stand and it didnt. The paint is cheap and will come off. I dont know about keeping it up there for extended periods of time but for maintenance it gets the job done.

What stands?
What stands are you guys using and have faith in? I can't afford pit bull stands and have looked into tractor supply stands and also Venom brand- theyre 70 bucks for a front and rear. Also there are some other brands that run around 120 for a pair. Anyone have any luck with the lower end stands? I'm looking to do some extensive work on my gixxer once I can get her back to kent (Repainting again, new front tire, possibly doing brakes, air filter clean, fuel line replacement, caliper painting) and I want some decent stands.
I don't like going 100% off of amazon reviews because people can tend to be retards. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...rd_i=346333011 |

Pitbull is the only way to go
But since you are looking for sub par stands I'll sell you my T-rex front and rear

T-Rex seem to be of reasonable quality for the price point, I won't be heavily using the stands as the bike probably won't be them more then once a week. Are you actually interested in selling them?

Whatever you get, bring them with you to Mid-Ohio when you come this summer because you'll need to zip-tie your side stand.
Dates are June 21 and 22, both days are 3:30-9:00. Be there or be square!! |

Worth it. Sorry for getting another one of your thread OT
I've been using a stand from HF because it was $30. It's garbage, but it hasn't dropped my bike yet, even in storage. I want a front stand that lifts by the triple, but I've got other things to buy, especially when a car jack under the engine works so well. |

Yeah the only thing that sucks about the jack under the engine is I would have to take the plastics off. I'm hoping HF or Tractor supply have something of use, if not I'll order those venoms unless someone else has a better idea.

I've read a lot of negative things about venom stands. I'd go with t-rex or just ante up for pit bull. Theyll out last your bikes
