Well, how bout this then. I plan to race the 250 class again next season, with the MotoSeries and MCRA, as many rounds as I can afford. I was kicking around racing the R6 but thought... there is still much to learn from the lil bike and I have learned so much thus far. I aint giving up until I get an elbow down. So I will keep the R6 in street clothes.

Winter plans;

Drum up some more sponsors (racin' aint cheap )
Proper paint job
Proper dyno tune
A set of rain shoes
A spare set of wheels with tires (already have those )
Install all my suspension parts
Clipons + spare bars
Spare rearsets
ect.. ect..

And the best part , I got an old enclosed trailer that I am rebuilding. Along with the new truck, she gets a new trailer to ride in covered style. I just need something cool to paint or vinyl on the side. "Smith Family Racing" is already taken by a friend of mine, so need something different. Accepting any and all ideas.

She will come emerge of hibernation so fresh and so clean.

Almost bought another mirror but realized I just needed the locking nuts. Also while dismantling the front, I realized I used the longer bolt that I needed for the bottom of the windshield for the gas tank bracket. So now I've got the windshield properly mounted and the mirror back in place. While doing this, I decided to finally clean off two months worth of NY grime and lube the chain.

Then I discovered a dent on a pipe that comes directly from the radiator...Yep not in the best motorcycle mood. I mean....Its been running for the past month without any flaws but that dents pretty severe. It pretty much cut the volume of coolant that can pass by half. Whether or not the bike's cooling system is compensating for this, I wouldn't know. But I'm hoping replacing this pipe isn't going to be difficult.

For anyone who cares, it's part number 39192 and it doesn't look like cake to replace it. Physically speaking. Logically, it just seems to get twisted on or something.

I didn't start today, but finished everything today as I prepare for a 4-5 day trip around California in 2 weeks.

- take the wheels off
- take it shop to mount the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II I bought online
- reinstall wheels
- align rear wheel
- adjust chains
- clean/lube chains
- change filter and oil (Rotella T6)
- wash bike

I took the tires to Bert's Mega Mall in Covina, CA to mount them. $20 for both tires, really cheap. Much cheaper than everywhere else ($50+). They balanced it too.

These tires already have 60 miles of break-in miles in them.

I got lucky at the gas station and got the pump that had residual gas from the last fill-up, coating my gas tank with gas.

Cleaned and lubed the chain. Cleaning in a chain is so much easier when it's done on a regular basis before it gets all loaded up with gunk.

After doing a lot of reading about changing the front to a 15T sprocket, I bit the bullet and swapped mine out. I think that was the most practical mod I have done thus far. I also put the CRG clutch/brake levers on, makes the reach a little better for me. Plus they look so much better than the stock levers.

Don't Laugh.

Serious question here...

...Okay. So I'm curious now as to how many speeds my 2011 Ninja has. Is it 5 speed or 6 speed. I've only gotten it up to 70 Mph, on 5th gear, and it sounds like and feels like there could be a 6th. But I'm scared to actually try and shift up and the clutch slip back in to 5th, and possibly screw something. Again I don't know crap about gears, clutches and what not. First motorcycle, first manual vehicle too. Help me out if you can?

There are 6 gears. Trying to shift up when you're in the top gear won't hurt anything. I am guilty of doing that all the time

When I'm in Neutral is that considered a gear? I'm sure it's not but I wanna make sure that 100% about this before going on Interstates or Highways.

Example:

N
1(down)
2(up)
3(up)
4(up)
5(up)
6(end)

Gearing goes 1N23456. Neutral is not counted as a gear. You can go highway speeds in 5th gear although the bike will be screaming.

+2 I need to get a gear indicator. Spent today replacing spark plugs w/ new iridium plugs. Also charged up and installed my homemade lithium 11 oz battery. A ton of cranking amps and definitely lighter than the brick that was in there b4. Also, can someone id the exhaust on my bike, no label or decals on it?

In my opinion, gear indicators are a lot of money for something entirely unnecessary. I'm too lazy to count when I'm getting up to highway speed since I know I'm just going to top gear anyway. Otherwise, I generally know what gear I'm in.

Nothing on the lip on the end? To me it looks like something Dan Moto makes.

Added on a third of the miles I wanted in almost twice the time i needed.

But did go off roading a bit and above all else, any ride on the bike is a good day!

Delkevics are the cheapest things that pop up on ebay and there are similar looking ones. You could just get something nicer too

This.

I've attempted to shift up while at a fast speed hoping I'm still in fifth gear. But I'm not so I die a little inside.

Also, I parked by a bunch of SS bikes the other day. Seemed like this corner of the lot was meant for bicycles but have become a mix of whatever runs on two wheels.

As Im pulling out of the spot, there were two other bikers. One on a fireblade the other on an R6, felt like I was being downplayed when other people came up to them asking the R6er how he got that little usb thing installed.

Hmm, I guess we'll see. I'll look at investing in to some ear plugs if needed! I just hope the cops don't get called on me whenever I show up from work after 9 o'clock. Neighbor-hater exhaust!

Guess that's one way of looking like you're about to take a trip to the moon.

As for myself...Almost crashed. Didn't realize that the traffic ahead was so backed up. I must have hit the brakes too hard or at an angle but started fish tailing. Planting my left foot down as fast and as hard as I could trying to stabilize the bike while trying to find some sort of sweet spot with the brakes. Ended up right next to the car that was ahead of me but an inch or so before a curb (we were at a T intersection and thankfully the curb was curved to accommodate right turners).

I looked like I did the whole thing on purpose, took awhile for me to grasp what just happened then looked like I was on speed once I started looking very antsy at the 7/11 I stopped at after the near-accident.

Planned a twisty ride on wildcat canyon rd and tested out my glove liners. Not exactly heated grips level of warmth but still a world of difference.

Placed an order for a bicycle floor pump because I don't check my tire pressures enough out of laziness.

Plan on getting 90 degree valve stems next tire change, have about 8.5k on my S20's and can still go about 1-1.5k more.

I have a couple of mm of tread until I hit the wear bars for both the rear and the front, they seem to be wearing quite evenly.

I've got plans for some Diablo Rosso II's by the end of the year. I really liked the S20's but am going to give Pirelli a shot.
