I remember in the last year or so the Russian gov't encouraging its citizens to smoke and drink more as it created more money for the gov't coffers through taxes...guess this is the end result.

That, and also because the court system is messed up, and it might be hard to prove that you were not at fault without video, if the other party happens to be the judge's drinking buddy.

That video was incredible! I'm sure it's not always like that in Russia though. That video makes it seem like everyone in Russia drives vehicles (inc cars, lorries, helicopters and jets!) like they're playing a video game!

Gotta love that horse.

Lots of seemingly random electrical explosions in that video. I'm guessing it's from badly maintained power lines falling on the roads??

I don't think I'd risk riding a motorcycle on the roads over there. If it really is like that video, then I don't think I'd risk driving anything short of a tank on the roads.

Honestly I think you're right though @akima. If you ever watch Long way Round they do a fair amount of riding in Russia and you don't really see anything that crazy.

For those that don't know it's a documentary of sorts with Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman, they ride from England the whole way around to east and end up in New York. 16,000 miles I believe? It's an awesome watch!
