opening my petrol tank with key.

Its not working! I Turn and the key just bends. So im low on fuel and my key doesn't open it anymore. Anyone else have a problem like this?

I want to give it more force but scared it'll snap.

I have never had this problem but try pushing down on the lid while you turn the key. It may take pressure off the latch.

I tried this also. After work (If i make it home) I'll use my spare key and hopefully that opens it up. The are both original keys too :/

Unfortunately WD-40 won't get to where it's needed at the latch. Too much lube only settles on a rubber diaphragm inside the cap.

If they key goes in a little rough, put a little lube on the key and insert it the key several times while pushing down hard on the cap with the other hand. If there is any debris in the key hole, this can prevent the key from working correctly also. Some compressed air can blow it out.

Used wd 40 on the lock and it finally opened up. Still very tough. However once opened i used the guide in the second link to detach the cap and oil everything up. Now it opens like new

I have this issue on mine. I find that it only likes to go in one way. I'll try the WD40.

If you do get it open. Make sure you follow the guide to lube it all up
