Amazing Motorcycle Pics Thread

No, these aren't of ninjettes, but the pictures blew me away just the same. I ride with Frank occasionally, and he's a very talented rider, and simply crazy with his camera. He rides onehanded, holding a mega-$ DSLR in one hand without any type of lanyard or any other mount, and just snaps away at speed. It's entertaining watching him keeping up with riders who are really trying to rail, while he's loping along with one hand on the bars dangling a camera off of the side of the bike without a care in the world.

Here's a link to the thread, and below are just a few of my favorites from it:

He rotates bikes pretty quickly. As far as I know, his current favorite ride is that black GSX-R1000 with touring bars & a large screen on it. But he's had that R1200GS and KTM Adventure pretty recently as well.

Rad pics. Does your friend have a special grip with the trigger on it so he can fire it left handed? The reason I ask is that camera shutter releases are right handed and other than him having some kind of crazy kung fu grip worked out so he can hit the release, I would have to imagine he's got some kind of gear for that. I'd be interested in what kind of rig he's got set up to take these pics at speed.

Interesting question! I'm not sure if he has anything funky on the camera to allow him to take shots with his left hand more easily. I'll take a look next time I see him on the road...

He might just have the camera upside down and then rotate the pics afterwards. I do that sometimes just to get a different angle from the flash....then again I don't take pics while riding or driving and mine never turn out that awesome.

Pictures are awesome, you can tell he is a professional

Why We Ride

http://frank766.zenfolio.com/p121002546/slideshow

A guy named Frank had taken a boat load of photographs while riding / of riding. Fantastic shots, it's enthralling.

Sorry if this has been posted, but even so it's worth it I think!

PS: At the top right of the window that link opens, click on the circle with box and arrow inside of it for a full screen view.

For the record, the model/brand of a camera doesn't mean any more to the quality of these photos than say, the brand of piano does to the quality of the music produced by it. In fact, it probably matters far less.

Good point and shoot digital cameras are really good these days

You can get some awesome pics with the low end Nikon and Canon DSLR's too. Its more in the lenses than in the body.

Garbage lenses on a 3DX will still make garbage pictures. Put a high quality f/2 fisheye on a D60, and it can make the same pics the 3DX will.
