Hello From New Zealand
Just registered and will get this post up now, it's 10.52pm Wednesday here.
Only been riding since 2006, but here in New Zealand the country is beautiful and a motorcyclist dream. Covered 70,000km/42,000m from here on the southern tip of the North Island and enjoy the region just north of Wellington, known as the Wairarapa. For those interested in the region, go to Google Maps and lookup Rimutaka Hill, also on You Tube. This hill is only 20 minutes from home and it provides a most enjoyable ride to the Wairarapa and around Lake Wairarapa. In the last 27mths I owned a CB900 Hornet, and only last week traded it in for a 250R Kawasaki Green Ninja. I put 45,000km on the Hornet and of course there were going to be some big expenditure items due eg. valve clearance service, chain, front and rear sprockets, f/r brake pads, and another set of tyres. Though I had a demo ride on the 650 last summer, I took the 250R out last week and immediately decided that 'Yes this is the bike for me this season.' My plan is to ride through our summer and next winter, and then probably go back up to a Kawasaki 650 Ninja - then again I may just sit with the 250R for another 27mths. One request, can anybody give me a heads up on rimstripes for the 250R and are the stripes easy to stick/fit. I look forward to reading through this forum. Regards BuckBuck#1 |

Welcome to the forum Rimstripes for the 250 are easy enough to install but if you have front and rear stands it's a breeze.

Thanks for that. Got the paddock stand so should be okay for the rear, may have the brother in law inch the bike forward while I do the front wheel.

No doesn't have a name, but often my past bikes and now the new Ninja hum along to The Eagles...eg "Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy...Take It Easy...."

I see you are in Melbourne, I'm originally from Sydney, but was stationed down there in the Navy and lived in Frankston. Mount Dandenong was a favourite spot to visit friends, and though I didn't ride a bike back then I reckon the ride from Upper Ferntree Gully up to Olinda then choose any direction from there would be an excellent ride now.

My black Hornet and yours truly. Was a good bike, but the 250R Ninja is a pure joy, actually rode to the summit today and back, clear blue sky and temperature 18 Celcius/64 F. The Ninja just approaching 600km in the week.

Three Aussies in this thread now, must be my turn to shout:
Fosters Castlemaine XXXX Tui [NZ beer pronounced just like 'Toohey' beer in NSW] Advertising campaigne on road side billboards is a cracker -the punch line to anything that is a little bit outrageous is 'Yeah Right'. In the meantime here is the local television commercial:
