Talking Hello from (rainy) Georgia

Hi, new rider here, just picked up an '09 ninjette with 125 miles on it; lady had bought it to ride w/ her bf, but she didn't like riding.

Took the whole family to meet the PO, and before I could stop her, my 5yo ran up and touched the only shiny part of the bike... She got blisters on fingers, but kids are so resilient.

My first thought on taking off is "this little bike is fast", "oh no, the speedometer is broken, it's only showing 30mph" yeah, I'm that much of a newbie!

We had all kinds of plans this weekend, so I rode in front with my wife and kids in the support cage behind. She was complaining that I was going so slow and stacking up cars, but in my mind, I was leading a parade in honor of my new ride.

Got my first "wave", first caught in a rainstorm, and learned that wearing leathers is the easiest way in the world to meet people. (A guy at waffle house told me his life story.)

I have a thousand questions, but I'm trying to search, as I'm sure they've been answered a million times. I am in the Newnan area if any NW GA folks want to get together.

I did the same thing when I was six or seven and I saw a dune buggy for the first time (It's shiney!), except I knew I wasn't supposed to touch anything, so I did it discreetly. I'm pretty sure I tried to keep the reaction discreet too (OW!!), because I knew what I'd get otherwise. (Haven't I told you!?!)

Hi Josh and welcome! We have a time keeping my son who is 4 away from it sometimes too! You know, it is a wonderful reason to upgrade to CF however! You can touch it even when it's been running a couple of hours and won't burn yourself! I think it gets hotter from the sun than from the engine

You mean MW GA.

I'll let you know if I'm ever back in Newnan... I drove my Ninjette out to San Diego last December and haven't been back. Yup. I'm a born and raised Newnanite right here and I know I'll end up back there someday.

I had to drive up to WV to get my Ninjette because the Newnan dealership screwed me (sold my bike to another customer) and the only other dealership expecting an '08 in metro Atlanta canceled my deposit when Kawi canceled the order. I still blame the Newnan dealership... Cycle City knew they had double-booked it and figured that they could up sell me if they BS'ed me for a few months until it was too late to get one elsewhere. They didn't realize just how far I'd go.

Anyway, I remember experiencing all that on my terrifying 600mi ride home from the dealership. It poured rain before I even got to the first service station to fill her up. Luckily I had just bought a rain suit, but sweat was pouring out of my sleeve toward the open gas tank! My shirt was SOAKED (I could literally wring cups of water from my shirt). I've heard a TON of life-stories since then too! I took it to a friend's house and his 2yo ran right out and grabbed the exhaust too! I plan to powder coat it black when I can get the cash. Maybe that'll help.

I worked at PETsMART Warehouse FDC20 (now DC20) with a "Josh" who had a kid about 4-5 years ago. You wouldn't happen to be Josh Spence would you? I actually rode through the lot at the new facility a couple times looking to say goodbye to some old friends and didn't see any I recognized, though I ran into a few around town.
