Need Help with a Craigslist Ad!

Hey guys,

What do you think of this ad? My brother is looking a this bike for his girlfriend. It looks like a solid bike, but my concern are the miles are too high. I know lots of you have you bikes around this range. What do you think?

http://dayton.craigslist.org/mcy/3377901320.html

Thanks all!

Miles are fine. Price is too high.

EDIT: now that I say that, idk. Go check it out, see how it rides, see if you can haggle them down.

To high, I just watched my friend buy a 2010 for $2k in excellent condition. 1k Worth driving to Cincinnasty? I have a google search watch set up on craigs list that sends me an email as soon as a ninja goes up for sale. Want me to keep a look out for you?

Oh jeeze 14,000 miles?

Man that thing is about to fall apart. These little ninjas are only good for 10,000 miles before you have to get a new one. My last ninja made it to 13,000 before it crapped out

Yeah I would definitely be worried about the mileage. And with it still being under warranty I would be really worried that it's gonna fall apart. And that $260 dollar seat can't be any better than the stock one. And those tires are complete crap. Probably the worst street tires you could put on the 250. And to top it all off, all the maintenance has been done regularly. That right there is a big red flag. I am pretty sure this bike is a complete piece of ****! Do NOT buy it.

Don't get me wrong the mods and "regular" maintenance (I don't know what was done at what interval) seem reasonable, but it's a beginner bike that could get flipped in a couple of seasons. The less miles the better. I can't speak for her. Regardless, it would be due for valve adjustment at 15k and I'm trying to save her the trouble.

It is a good deal, if he can lower the price some.

If the girl is a newbie, I wouldn't buy a bike in good condition and with good upgrades, just to trash it while hurting her in a few days, and resell it for pennies.

I have seen similar stories repeated 1,001 times.

I'd recommend a pregen Ninja 250 or a small displacement dual sport for a new rider. It's very very likely to get dropped or crashed within the first year. And I'd hate to see that nice looking bike get beat up and/or totaled.

If you get a pregen, I can help with valve adjustments. We can bang that out in an afternoon.

I personally don't like your marketing technique with the tags. >_>

"Honda , Suzuki , Yamaha , Ducati , Triumph , Rebel , 250 , Ninja , CBR , Sport , Bike , Crotch Rocket , Beginner , Kawasaki , CC , Motorcycle , 600 , 650 , 900 , 800 , 1000 , 1100 , 1350"

Besides that it looks good.

We bought an 08 with 9k miles just south of Cinncy for
$1800...

I'd say too high of miles for the price on the CL ad you posted.

Awesome find with that thread! That's quite interesting! Honestly, I'd like to see her spend less than $2800, more towards $2500. I bought my '08 with 3300 miles for $2200 last year. I think 3k is too high and I've made that suggestion, but it's not my money.

FWIW, my brother's girlfriend has taken a MSF per my brother's and my guidance.

I will pm you when a great deal pops up, none atm.

No competition yo! I am looking for a rough 250 for race use only. I have seen some in the $700-$1200 price range but I wasn't able to put the deal together. My loss.

How's that work? Is it an after market software? What's it cost.

I dont know how you feel about coming to columbus to get one but ive just looked at CL columbus and i found alot of pregens for around 1000-1500 with low miles which would be a good starter bike. I bought my 09 with 3780 mi for 2000 out of north olmsted ohio.

Yea but it doesn't work as good as craigs list. Just swap out the craigslist url with ebay.com or whatever site your searching. Ebay is huge so the more terms you can put on the search terms the better your results. You will also get a lot of the category listing pages.

Here is an example: site:ebay.com 2010 ninja 250r mirror black -ended

-ended filters out the expired ebay items.

Happy searching!
