not that it matters, just more curiosity than anything but, do you get a prize or anything for winning the whole thing?

Sure I do! I get the pleasure of meeting/helping/riding/racing with a bunch of cool people, traveling different places, seeing different things and having a blast the whole time. Honestly speaking... I won before I even started because of my attitude about the whole thing. To ACTUALLY win is just icing on the cake and sharing the experiences with my kids is something that can never be replaced.

What do I really get? I get a plaque, a bump to expert racer (white # plates) and have to make a "thank you" speech in front of the whole racing series group. Not sure if I will protest the bump to expert but meh. I have no problem speaking in front of group of people either.

In the end, there will be NO big crowds, NO champagne, NO big checks, NO line of sponsors waiting to sign me, just a small group of friends all remembering the good times we all had along the way.

sounded better in my head. What I meant was...we could have a party at the track. Just food, water and we could bring him gifts like a new chain. Nothing X rated we can keep it at a PG 13.

Racing is not a School Sport

There are no bus rides with teammates, no cheerleaders no wearing a jersey on game day, just an 8 hour ride in the truck to the next race after a day at school.

Kids at school wear their jersey to school on game day, no one even knows when a racer is racing. Most people do not even know what a racer does, or if they are good or not. The Team can win and everybody is a winner. For a racer there are lap times and wins, no one else performing but the rider.

Sitting in the team sport stands you hear a lot of different things than what you hear at the track. I heard a person on the radio say today" some people make excuses for their poor performance, others do what it takes to be a winner, which one are you?" I have spent a lot of time in the bleachers listening to parents complain that the reason their kid is not playing well is because of the coach. I hear a lot of the time how great their kid is because the team in winning.

If you really analyze why a middle school team is winning and how good of a performance a player is giving, you have to dissect it like you do a racer would. Is the team scoring touchdowns because the big lineman are blowing holes in line, or do you have the fastest running back in the state and the strongest full back in the state running sweeps right and left for touchdowns? A racer reviews ever lap, every turn, there is no masking a bad time. The middle school coaches usually don't say anything to poor performers as long as the team is winning.

The racer is eating organic foods, working out to keep their weight down, doing most everything on their own, pushing themselves. The racer knows that being lean and strong is the only way to win. There are excuses of why a wrestler did not make weight, or was beat by an inferior opponent. The coach did not find a way to motivate the wrestler, etc. A racer is in the gym, nobody knows why they are there. They are on the exercise bike before school, running sprints on their own at night. No coach pushing them, no parent pushing them, only the racer pushing themselves.

Watch the school entrance on game day, parents bringing stuff their kids forgot for their game today. Thank goodness for kids being able to text their parents. A racer packs everything for a 10 hour drive a day or 2 before they leave. Or a 5000 plane ride to Europe. If you don't have it, you don't race, PERIOD! Bring enough for dry, wet or a spill. No calling anybody, there will not be anyone there your size to borrow their stuff.

Why do we drive 10+ hours to race? Why do we spend tens of thousands of dollars each year? Why do we go to tracks when we know there may not be anyone there in his class? We do it because he is doing everything HE can do to be a winner, no excuses. People blame others for their faults, it is only their issue, not anyone else's. Ride the crap out if that crappy bike, give it everything you have, ALL the time!

Sleep in the truck, train by yourself , eat what you have to, do what it takes to get a shot to be the best. You may not line up against a kid from school from across town or across the county, it may just be a Spaniard or an Italian 3000 miles from here, no excuses Goon. Nobody holds anyone back, some are just afraid to hang it all on the line. Drag that knee at 90 mph, go down the straight away at 130 mph, and throw it into turn 7. You may not hear the cheerleaders, you will not see me just about to throw up. I am not nervous if you win or lose, I am sick to my stomach because I know, no one is going deeper into turn 7 than you, I am praying you have traction to make it to turn 8.

Give it everything you have, everyday.

The last races (double header) Sun. Sept. 14 at PitRace (Beaver Run) in Wampum. The 250 class should grid up around noonish and again at 2ish, give or take for weather and such. These races will pretty much wrap up the championship points chase but they don't really announce the winners that day. That comes later at an awards banquet that is still TBD. Feel free to come out that Sat. night @subxero. We are having a big paddock party, complete with a clam/crab bake and griller (steaks). Lemme know if ya comin' and I will have a steak and brew with your name on it. ps.. you're invited too @snot.

I am kinda glad the race season is coming to a close. I still have a lot to do but I am starting to get tired.

At Pitt huh, would love to come out Saturday and or Sunday to see some of the races but not so sure it is in the cards, we have plans with the in-laws that weekend

But, i'm still banking on making it to your shindig one way or another.

Do you think you could PM me the address to the party location and any details about the events, mainly dates, rough plans, times IDK? whatever

Picture time from yesterday at Mid-O. Weather was absolutely perfect.

Some of the Junkie crew that were riding that day. There were about 15 of us at the track riding in all groups.

A good time was had by all and none of our crew went down.

I can't wait to have my bike re-sprung. The springs are for someone that weighs 40 or 50 pounds less than me.

Back to the track for me on Fri. for the final round of racing. I am excited because I should win the championship. Yet at the same time, I am starting to get tired and need a rest .

You need a driver so you can rest on the way to and from the track.
