December 4th in the NC twisties
Exploring/Carolina (Bill) and the Old Guy on a '08 (Chris) headed out of Denver about 10:30 on a warm December morning for a trip up to some of the great twisties that Western NC has to offer.
Bill lead the way and he knows these road having ridden this section of NC for many years. Highly recommed Bill as a "tour guide". The morning was spent tooling our way up towards Morganton and then a high speed run up the curves of NC-181 to Pineola for lunch at Christa's Country Corner at the intersection of 181 and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Properly nourished and rested, I took the lead running down the Blue Ridge Parkway towards Little Switzerland. We stopped at an overlook and Bill took the lead once again. A stop at the Mineral Museum to "drain the tank" and to try to set up a camera to get some video footage of the ride down "The Diamondback" with it's 190curves over 12 miles. It's not a famous as "The Dragon" but its everybit as much of a blast to ride and a whole lot closer to home. A stop at the end of the route to make a repair to Bill's speedo cable, which had come loose, and bill was back in the lead for the run along the Lake James north shore with it's many great curves. A look over our left shoulders saw the rock face at the South end of Linville Gorge bathed in sun. Running out of daylight, Bill headed home and I turned around to explore a little more of this part of NC before a meeting in Morganton. At 70degrees and sunny, it was great day and with a great companion it made for a truely memorable December ride . If your in this part of NC look up Bill or myself for a tour of these and the other great roads in the area.

It says "werd".
If you would prefer, I could use instead.

I thought that might be the definition. Thanks for the clarification... now I know.
Bill's done a lot to the PreGen and the '08 has a ZeroGravity Sports Touring Windscreen, Proton Flusmounts and wider gear ratio due to +1 on the front sprocket and -3 on the rear.

Working on bikes since it's raining here today. Ordered a Saylor fender eliminator for the Ninja, too.
Enjoyed the ride. Always up for a twisty ride in December when the temps are in the 70s. Rest area on BRP Where we had lunch on Rt. 181 close to the BRP Last futzed with by exploring/carolina; December 7th, 2012 at 04:44 PM. |
