Amazing gloves, one problem.

So I stated in a thread a week or so back that I lost my $50 fox gloves. So, I bought the GP Tech gloves from Alpinestars. They are incredible. Everything I need in a glove as far as protection goes.

One problem unfortunately...
They are like a quarter-to-a-half inch too long in the fingers. My finger tips will reach to the end when I pull the glove on, but when I ride and relax my hands they slip down a little and I have some annoying room. I ordered a small btw, if they made an XS i would try that. And Idk if this is something that goes away with breaking them in, seeing as how there is too much room and not too little. I spent $300 on them so I want nothing negative about gloves this high on the food chain.. Can anyone recommend a solution or a alternative glove? I want the same level of protection mind you.

There should be some room at the fingertip. I don't think you should not be touching the end of the glove with your finger. If you are, the glove is probably too small. The reason for this is because having your finger at the very end of the glove gives no room for expansion. If you were to crash and impact on your gloves hard enough, the seams would explode, exposing your skin to the pavement. Are you sure it is too big? Did you cinch down the wrist adjusters? Perhaps the shape of your hand does not fit their mold.

Different brands have a bit of different cut and finger length. To test them, wrap your hand around your bars. There should be no excess and even a little tight. They will break in to feel less tight. My gloves after being broken in, have a lil bit at the tips extra with straight fingers. Otherwise, it's time for a rma.

i prefer a little bit of room in the finger tips. when you don't have enough room it crowds your fingers and feels awkward. same thing if the palm isn't long enough and it digs into the pits of your fingers. is that the right word? finger-pit? you might want to go to a gear shop and try on different brands of gloves and get a feel for different sizes so you really know what you like. make sure you grab something bar-sized to feel it out. if you're in a store, not your dick.

I just went out to my bike again and tested gripping them. I may have exaggerated with the slack. Its more like 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch in slack with straight fingers. They don't touch completely when gripping though. And they aren't even broken in yet. I like my gloves to be like a second skin, I want them to hung my fingertips as nice as possible. It was kinda awkward lifting my fingers to grab the clutch or brake, even with the tiny space in between my fingers and the tips. The gloves $10 from ACE I used as temporary gloves actually fit the way I would want a $300 pair of race gloves to fit haha. A gear geek at Revzilla recommended the REV'IT Jerez and the Dainese Full Metal (which would only be $50 more and actually offers even more protection than the alpinestars) as alternatives.

I would love to go to a shop and try some gloves one, but all the shops around here never carry anything up to date or in their actual storefront :/

I talked further with the gear geek and I am going to exchange these for the Dainese Full Metal RS gloves.
I really really really liked these Alpinestars (they matched my A* jacket too), but that extra finger length just bothers me so much :'(. And the guy said Dainese runs smaller finger lengths.
After reading what you guys had to say, a little finger length shouldnt be too bad, but only after the gloves are broken in.

EDIT: Just curious, why would you not approve of Dainese, Alex?

Well I canceled my request to exchange gloves after hearing what alex said and reading some reviews about Dainese falling apart.

I also read my A* manual and it actually said my fingers should not contact the tips of the glove, or if they do, very lightly. So I'll be keeping my gloves after all . I'll just have to get over the awkward feeling for now.

did you try a smaller size of the same glove? you might want to see if anywhere around you has held phantoms. they are honestly the best gloves on the market

I have a pair of Joe Rocket GPX 2.0 gloves sitting around. Brand new condition. Small. You can have them for $60, which is a great deal. Why don't you measure from the tip of your middle finger down to the edge of your hand (where palm meets wrist) and I'll tell you if they'd fit you well. I think the answer will be yes. PM me if you're interested

I have the same issue as you where my fingers seem short even for A* small gloves. I have found the RevIt brand to be a better fit for me, maybe you could give those a try.
