I've ridden that area before... the gas station they were stopped at (unless I'm somehow mistaken) is at the far end of the small town of Julian and that part of the road is actually going away from the direction of Palomar... it's 78E (Banner Grade)... a really nice little stretch of asphalt

that person massively didn't turn hard enough through that turn. They went WAY wide, and then dumped the bike.

Looks like target fixation to me. She doesn't look through the turn thus going wide.

Even a big heavy cruiser could have made that curve. She needs to work on her transitions. She leaned the bike in hte right direction but it looks like she got freaked at how close the next corner was and fixated on the wall. Good example of "You go where you look." Just like that scooter video.

It's not that big of a deal. If you're routine is broken, that's when you usually forget stuff. If you forget a glove in your locker, does that mean you should wear gloves anymore?

Question A Ninjette Lowside

Skip forward 2 mins if you want to jump to the lowside.

Link to original page on YouTube.

She made the comment
"[I] Added lean instead of press then lost it..."

What do you think she meant?

Meaning she leaned instead of trying to countersteer and went wide? I think perhaps countersteer is what she means by "press"

I think that the shadow messed up her judgement of the curve. Then it was too late and she didn't correct with countersteering fast enough.

Never really got the turn properly started before she left the road. It was like her mind was on something else at that point.

The shadow threw her off initially.

When she started going wide, you can see her target fixate on the edge of the road, and when she gets to the gravel, she eats it and goes down.

She might have entered that a little fast, but it was not out of the realm of what the bike can handle, as seen by the previous turns in that video. I think she just got thrown off by the shadows and lost concentration. I really think if she hadn't been distracted, more pressing on the inside bar, and more hanging off (which I didn't get the feeling she was doing much in the earlier turns) would have helped her negotiate that turn.

Lesson from this video: slow in, get your body positioning right, THEN keep focused through the turn, and fast out. If it's been a long day of riding, maybe take it easy through the next few turns and take a water/snack break when possible.

Another lesson: if you hit a turn too and end up going off the road for whatever reason, stand the bike up and slow down as rapidly as road conditions will allow. It's better to hit gravel upright at 10mph than leaned over at 30mph.

Just looked lik she didn't turn enough, and it was too late by the time she realized she was overshooting her turn. Seemed like she should have uprighted and braked. Hindsight though... from the video she posted as a reference to how that road is supposed to be ridden, etc. it seemed like she was riding with riders above her comfort level/skill level as well, and was in between them to boot.

In the video, it was like she came out, was going too fast for her comfort/skill level for the second turn she was set up into already, and then **** her pants.

But I don't have a clue... I'm a friggin newb, just sayin' how I seen't it

^^^ This

@11:15 In TOTW2 plays out a nearly identical scenario (sun, shadow and all). The stunt rider counter leans, target fixates then goes down. She low sided, stunt rider hits a log, ride safe or you could hit a porch.

Yes. You can make the back wheel chirp if you just pop the clutch when you downshift from 4th -2nd and expect it to match rpms for you. Try not to do anything to upset the bike through turns.

it will make you under steer in a bad way.
in a tight corner, it could mean the difference between making it or crashing.
