Sprocket carrier bearing replacement
Hi all,
So i will be changing chain sprockets and bearings. I found out that the sprocket carrier has an exposed bearing, is that for a purpose or to reduce price? In any case, will it be possible to replace the sprocket carrier bearing with a sealed one, or will it cause me issues? |

Not sure which part you're talking about for sure but if you mean the ball bearing closest to your front sprocket on the output shaft then yeah it's exposed. It's $15 new.....
I don't see anything wrong with a sealed bearing besides having some clearance issues. There is the same bearing on your input shaft fyi.

I think he is referring to the rear wheel sprocket carrier. I haven't checked, but I would have thought it would be a sealed unit.

Are we talking about ball bearings? I don't recall the 1988-2012 sprocket carrier having ball bearings at all.
