My leather jacket decided to fail on me!
As I was riding to college last night, I had passed under a cloud of rain and god soaked for a couple of miles. I was wearing an old leather jacket and this is the result. The black color went all the way to my skin.
Now I'm looking to buy this jacket. What do you think? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007Q8LV98/...0H0S36B0&psc=1 |

pics of old jacket?
the only time the jacket truly fails is when it fails to protect you.

If I were you, I'd get a better jacket, then the one you posted. More specifically, a brand that is well known and has a reputation to protect. You can find a lot of good deals in the closeout section of motorcycle websites, cyclegear, craigslist, etc. Definitely wouldn't trust my skin in what you posted from amazon.
Edit: Forgot to mention, this jacket doesn't say anything about CE rated armor. |

For a decent jacket your going to have to spend around $200. Cycle gear might have something better than that jacket closer to your price range

Why would you get full body armor separately instead of integrated?

I have a scorpion exo textile jacket that has armor included inside. Was $189, from the stealership, so it is prob a little cheaper from site online. Look around online and check out close outs. You can find some really good deals that way

This same thing has happened to me with my A* two piece suit. Happens in the rain or really sweaty. Not sure if there is a cure, if there is... sign me up for it as well.
It has never happened with my S&S, AGV or the Frank Thomas XTI that I sold.

I have worn my Teknic leathers in 2 thunderstorms and maybe 4-5 times in light rain but never got any color leakage.
I got a textile Alpinestar jacket for $100 on closeout. Keep an eye out on closeout sections of motorcyclegear.com, revzilla.com, cyclegear.com, sportbiketrackgear.com, denniskirk.com, motorcyclecloseouts.com or any of your favorite motorcycle retailer. If you wear either smaller (S, XS) or very large clothes(XXL), the probability of finding a good closeout is even higher as these sizes don't move as fast. |

Looking at your photo, I don't think you've got the 28-inch waist you'd need to fit into that jacket.
It's REALLY good that you're focusing on leather, but as noted above, you should go for quality gear. You may be a new rider, but that doesn't make your delicate pink hide any less valuable than that belonging to a veteran rider. Rather than launch into my usual "just buy good gear, fercryinoutloud" rant, I wrote a blog. Read it and then decide if your skin is worth more than a hundred bucks. https://www.ninjette.org/forums/blog.php?b=8330 Buy a good jacket now, and you won't have to replace it next year. Buy crap and you'll be faced with buying more crap until you finally wise up and decide to buy something decent.

If you want a good leather jacket on a budget, check out your local Craigslist. Sometimes you can pick up used gear really cheap.
Another option might be the local pawn shops. Sometimes they have good riding jackets for reasonable prices.

I've seen dainese jackets bleed the dye through. Leather is not waterproof so any jacket that isnt coated is subject to that. Like others said above. Spend the bread on proper gear.

All of my leather jackets have bled through one way or another if they were $100 or $600.
