Hi from Lakeland, Florida

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and thanks for all the great info I have found. I do not have a bike yet and have never ridden. I will be taking the msf course later this month.
I have just about made up my mind that the Ninja 250 is the bike I really want. I don't intend to buy just yet, but I am heading out tomorrow to take a look at one as it is the only opportunity I have had to see one in the flesh. These bikes are very difficult to find here. Used bikes sell for as much as new ones and they are gone almost as soon as listed. Sorta the tickle me Elmo of the bike world. The Kawasaki dealers all tell me that 2-3 units trickle in at a time and are gone within days. They may not get another shipment for months..oh yeah and forget trying to side by side comparison the new Honda. You'd have better luck finding the skunk ape!

Had the same trouble as you. A local dealer got one and a friend on another forum just happened to message me the day they put it on the floor. Almost all the new gens that I found used were only about 500 less than new. I have even seen 2yr old ones for sale for 4500. For that price I decided to just get a new one. Have had her 3 weeks tomorrow and she goes in for her 600mi service.

Yep. 500 dollars less is about right. I think for right now I am going to focus on gear etc. I am not in a big hurry. Which is probably a good thing considering...

You and I are pretty much on the same boat. Never ridden (except for the MSF class) and still looking forward to getting my 250.

All the best to you!

Well I went and had a look at the one in Tampa this morning. Gotta tell ya, I came very close to breaking down and buying that thing. Didn't do it though. I want to see how well the MSF course goes as well as get past the family vacation. Definitely have to plan a meet up with the locals. By the way, despite it being hot as snakes ass today it was beautiful and the motorcycles were out in force..more HD and gold wings than sport bikes though...

Local Forum

Do you belong to the local sport bike forum? Soflasportbikes, there are at least two members selling theirs right now, + a track ready one. I warn you now, it's a little (ok a lot) more rowdy than here.

I'll be doing the track day tomorrow at Homestead Speedway, I'll be in pit 7,8 or 9. Swing on by, you can check out my bike and try her on.

Edit: oh wait... I din't see how far north you were, lol. You should definitely come out next track day at PBIR (much closer to you). That goes for all you South/Central Florida members too, come on I'm tired of being the only 250......
