Body armor
Hello. Do you guys think that wearing body armor (like
Motor cross armor, or football armor) is a "noob" thing to do on a ninja? |

I would wear motorcycle specific armor over football armor. I wear a thorax wave pro under my jacket when I take long rides. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/d...horax-wave-pro

Anything you are wearing to protect you in a crash can be seen by an intelligent person as nothing other than a smart thing to do.
The ones who will call you a "noob" or an idiot or comment on how you look are the actual noobs or idiots. Remember, those who matter don't care and those who care don't matter. Around where I ride, there is no helmet law. I see about 30-40% of riders wearing helmets. The rest wear no gear whatsoever. Of the helmeted riders, maybe 25% are wearing any other form of gear, be it a jacket or gloves. I am ATGATT even when its 90 degrees out and I'm sure I get called stupid and get weird looks all the time. I just don't really care. Recently I've switched from my armored textile overpants to some Drayko kevlar lined jeans for the hot weather. I feel like a squid, even though I am wearing a full face helmet, gauntlet race gloves, Alpinestars jacket with chest and back armor, and 3/4 length armored boots. You get used to the amount of protection that you wear on a regular basis. For most people, it's none or very little and some of them will pay the price. |

Motocross armor looks cool if you ride a street fighter or dirt bike.
But could get uncomfortable when tucking on a Sportbike.

That is meant to be worn under a jacket, not in lieu of one

Football armor? Really? Designed for a different purpose.
Use the right tool for the job. Here's a good example of an armor shirt designed for street bikes, from Alpinestars.

Most common chest/back protection that ive seen since ive been riding has been the Icon Stryker field armor. Personally think its priced alittle too high for what it actually is. |

Juggernaut.
I have one, actually, that's collecting dust since I moved to a leather jacket. I wore it under my old mesh gear. Nice kit. Has a CE level 2 back protector that can be used either zipped into the shirt or on its own. I really should put it up for sale.....

Just get the Icon Field Armor vest and be done with it. Cheap, effective, and you'll always be wearing a chest protector as well.

most decent jackets give you good forearm, shoulder protection so a vest that fills the gaps giving you chest and back protection can't be a bad thing.
I've been meaning to get one of those A* full armor style jackets for my wife for offroading. Perhaps for her birthday...i'm sure its exactly what she is wanting |

I'm either wearing a leather jacket or this in place of my mesh jacket (occasionally remove armor from leather jacket and wear it over this if I'm hitting some twisties.) I like the fact that the back armor is better than anything you can get in a jacket, I have a bunch of gear I need to review on here soon lol |

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...chAutoComplete I'll wear it on it's own if it's hot out and still feel well protected. My theory is if I go for a slide, most of the abrasion occurs on the main contact points which are usually elbow/shoulders (notice how I said usually not always). I also wear full gauntlet gloves with this, I like the back protector feels a lot more substantial than a regular jacket even one with an upgraded back "protector pad".

forcefield makes THE BEST armor on the market. its pricey, but its engineered to absorb a lot of the force that is present in a crash. not to mention its a soft armor, so after it warms up it contours to the shape of your back and/or other parts. They are currently they only armor manufacturer that produces a back protector that reduce the amount of force transfered to your back, below 4KiloNewtons (3.38KN)
