Clone trooper: 212th batallion

I have taken on some projects before that I never finished, the biggest one being my '75 CB550 "Frankenbike project" I did all of the hard work and never wired it up or finished it.

How it has sat for the last 5 years and is now for sale

I have vowed to not have this happen again with this project. It will be a daily ride while I do all work.

I drove all the way to Kent NY to buy this from @Klondike1020 ,the first picture I ever saw of it.

Loaded on the trailer to head home

This morning I took it off of the trailer and ran it, rode it a little, added some seafoam.
I pulled the parts I has been collecting for a new gen since August.

As it came off the trailer, he did a good job of making it look good with the parts on hand.

I test fit the fairings, also shows the. Yoshimura pipe.

The body parts I've been collecting:

Stainless brake lines

The only MAJOR problem I see that I need to fix ASAP. Is the front wheel, it's not cracked, but I will replace it because it's bent and gouged

You could straighten the gouge back out and hit it with a weld with a little effort.

Some people are picky about wheels , but I straightened a 22 " deep dish mag w my torch and drove for 30k miles w/o issue

- look at plasti dip for painting the bike- super easy and looks good!

The bike is going look mint after a weekend or two of effort!
You got this project!- it helps that u can ride it? Motivation

Be careful not to over compress the front shocks when trailering bikes, I can't tell if it looks extra low because the front is dropped or if its ratcheted down

When you are down south in NC shoot me a text and we might meet up and ride

Yeah, I'm not sure, if I can find one for a decent price, I'll replace, if not, I'll fix it.

I have a couple of ideas for paint, plastidip was one of them, olive drab another, and the most expensive is pearl white with orange/copper accents painted by a pro.

It's strapped down pretty good, but I never go past half way, haven't had a problem on any bike in the thousands of miles I've hauled them.

You should name that bike 'Skittles'.... All the colours of the rainbow.

I'm sure once it is painted up it'll look good!

Haha, yeah, for sure!
I'm thinking I'll need to bring that front end back up, but not sure I can deal with clipons under the clamp.

Might have to go with some custom style risers but we'll see!

I spent most of the night thinking about what I want to do for color.

I'm going satin pearl white, with orange accents. I'm not sure if I want to PC the wheels yet, but I may.

I also just ordered the Michelin Pilot Street tires for this in the stock sizes, and shorty levers.

Put a few miles on it today. Does everyone's junk get smashed when braking??? Lol

I finally had sometime to get the rear tire mounted, I also tried to get the speedometer on, but I don't think I have all of the brackets I need to mount it.

New rear tire. It feels so much stickier than anything I have ever put on a bike.

I took a few minutes and polished up the CF can, looks so much better, you can tell the difference between the can I polished, and the cap I had not done yet.

Tried out one of my usual car things, I think I like it.

Tried out fairing parts a bit more

Went back to the old setup, with a twist, for now.

and tried out the hauler for my herd of Kaws

I know you'll change it, but there's just something smile worthy about the skittles bike.

Yeah the carbon looks great once you get it cleaned up.

I couldn't get the baffle to come back out of the pipe after I installed it… But I tried after I took it for a ride so it may have been expanded by the heat.

Tire looks good too.

Hilarious… load up the bikes on a trailer and drive it around town… its like having your own personal parade.

I am wanting a setup like yours now. Small tdi car and a three bike trailer

My silver ado is nice but thats more economical !

The new tires are awesome, I've never ridden anything that handles like this, and those tires really upped the bar even more. I had a blast on this bike. I need to get it set up for me, but it's a keeper

Every time I go to the garage I am so tempted to take my gfs 300 out. There is no joy in ridding a gsxr in stop and go traffic in 1st and 2nd all day long.

I sweat balls, get no where , and end up grumpy

Thanks, I'm enjoying a nice easy project this time, no super custom mods....yet.

I am painting it piece by piece, the satin white pearl for the front, and the black for the back. Last 2 things to do is the tank and the left fairing. Re painted the right side lat night, one run, and 2 bugs too many in the paint lol

My wife motivated me a bit today. We rode about 100 miles, just went out to get lost for a bit! We got back, and she kind of hinted about getting the tank painted, so, I took it off and started, then I finished! It's not perfect, but I'm ok with it!

And she helped me get an idea of what it will look like when completed.

Today I got a ton of presents (I paid for them all, but hey, I still go to open boxes!)
So, I decided to ignore the car ( car show next weekend!!) and put some parts on the bike?

Finally GAUGES!

Bike is 3/4 assembled!

This is my mini sport touring bike! I'm going to set it up pretty well for some trips, and I actually LIKE THE SEAT!

Next up, higher bars, GPS mount, 12v and USB in the dash.
