Start in Gear

So my 09 will only start when in neutral, but friend had a 12 and she could start hers in gear as long as the clutch was in. How can i change this? I have the kickstand switch jumped since i removed it, i believe it was the same way before i did this.

make sure the switch itself is being triggered, its really easy to break the little piece of plastic that triggers it

So after a quick inspection i found out that my switch was jamming and not fully extending when the clutch lever was in. With the lever in, i touched the plunger and it fully extended and the bike turned over in gear. So i took it off, i was amazed by how much build up was on it. So i opened it up, cleaned every piece and put it back together. Put it back on the bike went to test it and nothing, made sure the plunger was still working and still nothing. When i had it apart the first time i noticed one of the pins was wore down a lot so i bent the contact patch up some so it could touch and problem solved. Bike is back together and i have that function restored. Thanks guys.

Yup. Common issues. The switch is the same on most Kawi models and interchange.

Thanks for bringing up this issue. i also faced the same problem some times, sometimes it starts sometimes it does not . never knew that the solution was in the clutch switch.. i will rectify my machine soon...
