Steering Damper Suggestions - 636
I'm not sure if this is the best spot for this post so it can be moved if needed.
Looking into getting a steering damper for the 636 and have heard a ton of different advice between my mechanically inclined friends and the local shops. What are your favorites and recommended? Least favorites and recommended to avoid? And why of course. Other input also appreciated, trying to get her track ready for end of April. Thanks!

Don't get the OEM. Its expensive and underdamped. Get a true ohlins or other aftermarket one. I haven't brought my bike home yet so I have no idea yet if I will be wanting a damper. My CBR had the electronic Honda one and that worked great whenever the front got light. I hear the GPR is a good one and the price is much better. Check the ZX6R forum also, lots of friendly people there. I am GEB on there by the way.

I am partial to the barrel type vs. the bar type. It's less likely that this will be majorly damaged in the event of a down.
I am a fan of Scotts but there are others that are fine too.

I've got the GPR on mine and it seems to work just fine. I've had the front tire come up a little many times powering out of a corner and have never had it get squirrely.

It fits great. It's a little weird getting the key in and out because of the angle. Make sure you get the one for the 2013-14 ZX-6R, previous models will not work they are different.

thanks just ordered GBRacing engine covers and sato frame sliders so probably look at dampers next, then fender eliminator. Funny thing is on my CBR the only thing I ever changed were tires.

Heard good things about the GPR's as well, never rode with one though.

Chris - if I read correctly on the scotts you have separate low and high speed damping so you can still maneuver easy at low speed and save a slapper at high speed is that correct? That's what I liked about the elec one on my Honda as it varied with speed ant throttle position.

Going with a new stabilizer is best if you can afford the $cost$. My Ducati has a non adjustable unit and it works great but I want to get the Ohlins adjustable model (which is also rebuildable). Should you have to go the used route and are good at fabricating the mounts, I would suggest checking out the ZX10 dampers. I have seen their Ohlins damper for around $100 on E-bay. I am not sure of the model number but it looks just like the stock Ohlins dampers that come on Race/S model Ducatis.
