My KLX140L - NickJPass

Here's my bike

It. Is quick! I heard I would get bored, but that's ridiculous. Does a Ninja 250 have more torque? I didn't expect this at all. I stalled like 10 times lol but I'm getting better...I'm going for another ride. Bye

dirt bikes are quiet different.... torque on a dirt bike is generally going to be a good amount. even on the smaller bikes, but of course top speed is a lot lower. Its in the gearing.

Sweet looking bike bro...It must be nice to live an area with plenty of places to ride a dirt bike. Where I live, it's extremely limited, or else I'd probably have one too.

Yeah. It's nice, as long as people let me cross there land.

The PLAN:

1. Ride the hell out of it, hose/hand wash as needed, especially any white painted areas.
2. Lick wounds....
3. Ride the hell out of it some more
4. Turn 17 or so
5. Buy street tires and take to cart track and learn to drag a knee
6. Turn 18 or so
7. Buy ninja 250
8. Repeat step 1 over and over

Rock on mang!

The KLX140 has smaller tires, so it has a lower seat height, and it has the crappier rear shock. Mine is better, but more expensive

Congrats on the new bike....looks sweet(they always are new)
Spend some time learning to ride it............then run that bitch up HIGH in the rpm's and ride it like you stole it.

Any motocross track near you/ Unadilla maybe???
Not that I am saying to race or anything but once you learn to ride half decent just going out an putting around an MX track will greatly help develop some good skills that will translate well to the road.........Getting used to focusing when there is traffic around, the other bike will cause quite a distraction at first. Situational awareness is MOST important. Good throttle and clutch control from going up and down the hills and the face of the jumps. Last but not least........................................................... a massive amount of BREAKING practice.

Ride safe, Ride smart, have fun.

So, you don't want to trade? I'll be riding up to NY in the summer, would be an opportune time

Why would you want to trade haha? Just go trade your ninja in, or sell it, and go buy the 140. How tall are you, and how much do you weigh? If you're over 154 pounds, you're to heavy. I'm 5'9", and can easily flat foot the bike. The bikes seat height is like 32 or something.

OMG Nick! That's so awesome. I just found this thread. That bike looks so fun. I can just picture you burning around on it. I didn't expect you to get a new one. When I saw it, the first thing I thought is "nice bike... hope Nick doesn't get sad when he drops it."

Nice looking bike Nick. The starter controls are on the left side of that thing which is different from a street bike. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with it. If anything, you'll pick up some skills that you can transfer to street riding. The top speed on that bike is only about 60 mph so at least you shouldn't get into too much trouble. It only weighs about 200# so two guys could lift it out of any mess you get it in to. But also bear in mind that two thieves could also lift it on to the back of a pickup truck. So keep it secure.

Maybe you could set some time aside to use it to practice for the MSF. That is, slow, tight turns, braking without skidding and countersteering. The friction zone you mentioned is how you get the bike to creep for the MSF without lugging.

This will be a good starter bike for you. Now you can start saving for a Ninja. As much as you like your dirt bike, I think you'll like the even Ninja better.
