Unhappy Not a "crash" but still sucked..

So a couple weeks ago i was putting a bolt that had busted on one of the fairings back in. Simple rite??
All done and went to put the tools away...
BAM!! she goes down. Somehow the kickstand gave out...
She was sitting on the sidewalk so the frame slider landed at the very edge and slipped off into the dirt.

Damage was scratched up and CRACKED fairing.. The crack came from the POS sliders bending in... The feeler on the left side peg snapped off, and my shifter bent.

So after a minor meltdown and a day to calm down i realized i could call my insurance...

I love Progressive!!!!!

The adjusted came out to the shop and gave them a check on the spot. The ordered the parts and BAM! New plastics!

My deductible is 250. They wrote up a lot that was just plain silly to replace. Some of it I didn't even see.
So we didn't worry about some of it and instead used the money to upgrade some stuff... Including the sliders!!!
the best pat was i only had to pay 68 bucks for it.
So i now have a double bubble windshield (somehow the stock one was cracked...) and shogun frame sliders.

Wow, nice. Sounds like you got a great outcome from that unfortunate incident.

Whenever you're putting the bike on its sidestand, make sure it is in 1st gear and not neutral. Push the bike as far as it can forward to take the drivetrain slack out, and then set it down to the left. This way it can't roll forward even a smidge as the rear wheel will not let it.

Yes, it was a really good outcome.

And I normally would put it in first when parking because the driveway is sloped. But didnt think to do that on the level sidewalk... live and learn!

Yup, it's safer to just do it every single time; it becomes a habit.

Doesn't that count as a "ding" against your insurance though? Is your premium going to go up?

progressive has an "oops" policy... one incident every 18 months is forgiven in terms of rate increases. at least on my policy.

they also have this thing you can get that makes the deductible go down if you haven't had an incident in awhile. kinda interesting but i crash alot so i dont get to use it

i think they even have a little spy device you can put on and if you drive safely they turn your rates down. was thinking about putting it in my grandmothers car. they wont know the difference right?

The snapshot. I did that and saved 25 or 28%

It plugs into the OBD2 port in your car. It does the little beep if you do a "hard brake" and tracks your mileage and times you drive. It sends a signal directly to progressive when the car is on.

Yes, they would know if it wasn't plugged into your car.

It's why I'm not going to buy a brand new bike again. I'm too clumsy (and then too short to catch the bike after being clumsy) for nice things

I did get a little surprise from my sneaky boyfriend when I picked up the bike. He had went up and got me the tank pad the comes on the 2014 SEs. Had them put it on and made sure no one at the shop said anything about it to me.
