Picked this up the other day

2006 Kawasaki ZXR 636
14k miles with documented service history. Has a few minor scratches from use which it to be expected.
Never dropped or crashed, clean title.
Paid $3K for it

gut reaction, first thing I noticed was the gear on top of a cop car. That just feels like a bad idea if you aren't a cop.
beautiful pickup.

I don't see how people find 600's in the 3k range!? I can't even find a bike with over 20k miles for under 4 or 5 k $?!?!??!

Congrats - very nice!

That's quite a big upgrade in performance. Hopefully you won't be needing any "professional courtesy" in the near future!

Let me guess, somehow the bike got impounded and you ended up getting it for $3000. Then you noticed under the seat was $4000 stashed from a drug deal gone bad.

Welcome to the Zx6r Family! Seems to be a few of the people from this forum taking the plunge on these bikes. Personally haven't even rode it yet. (Stupid Winter won't leave)

I was hoping to find an 06 CBR600RR but prices were severely high or bikes were beat to crap. I just happened to be browsing craigslist and found the zx6r for a good price.

The performance and riding position will take some getting use to.

Now to turn my 250 into a track bike and run at Jennings GP.

Must be nice to have a motorcycle track that close. The closest track to me is about 5 miles away but they only let you use it twice a year.

Moved to southern GA in late June of last year and was only able to ride a single track day. Spent other days at the track just talking with various people. Planning on spending more time on the track this season.

After spending some hours in the saddle with the 636 I miss the 250 a bit. I have only been able to wind out first gear without breaking any speed laws.
Winding out the 250 is fun and always brings a smile to my face.
Looking at some Vortex lowering links until I get more accustomed to the bike (30" inseam, 32.3" seat height).
For around town riding the 636 seems like a waste, have yet to take it on the interstate.

Take it to JenningsGP. You don't want to lower it. You do want to put blue flashing lights on it.

one of the many reasons the ninjette gets more miles than the 6R

I have to say I'm loving my 636. Upgraded front pads to Vesrah, installed Galfer SS lines, installed a set of Dunlop Q3's after noticing some dry rot cracks on previous Q2's, added Hotbodies bubble windscreen, Jaradine registration plate hanger and led plate lights, and shorty levers.

Had to wrap the undertail exhaust pipe to keep my a** from roasting.

Now that i'm adjusted to the riding position I decided against lowering links.
