Super sport me.

Yea, so I looked at a couple of sv650s... And they do nothing for me. I literally did not have an ounce of excitement when I checked them out.

I want a real sport bike. I like the 07 and up cbr 600s. And I dig the r6 quite a bit, but its a tall bike which will make street riding mildly annoying. It'll be my only bike as I'm not going to get a commuter bike anymore. Just for pleasure and the occasional commute in. The liter bikes are out, I'm pretty sure the insurance will crush me monthly. Although an open mind never hurt anyone, so I'm open for suggestions or brief reviews. Thanks

You should talk to Geno from BARF/MGRs. He's had a few CBR 600RRs. I think his current street bike is a 2012.

I've said this here before a number of times... the SV650 is a terrific daily ride because it delivers usable power at real-world rpms, unlike a 600 supersport.

Look at the dyno charts for an SV650 and a 600, and you'll see that up to about 7 or 8k the 650 OUTPERFORMS that supersport in both power and torque.

Now look at the chart for the GSX-R750. It gives you the best of both... real-world usable power and torque, plus a huge hit up top.

It also fits short people like me. I'm 5'7" and wear 30-inch inseam pants. I can get my heels down on it.

I respectfully disagree that it's annoying to ride on the street in general. In stop-and-go traffic yes, an upright "commuter" bike is nicer. But if you don't face a lot of that, then it's just fine provided you understand how to ride it (i.e. don't lock your elbows, don't try to sit bolt-upright all the time).

I love mine.

If I had to choose a different bike today, it'd be the 636, followed by a Daytona. The 636 wins on ergonomics (it's shorter) but the Daytona wins on pure sexy.

I find it kinda funny that riders coming from 250's are worrying about usable power in the low rpm range from a SS.

I'm with you Cam. I love the SV650 on idea. It's the perfect engine size, lots of torque, sounds pretty good.

Then I saw one in person. Did nothing for me, despite my brain telling me how good of a fit it was. Too plain, too boring, the ergo's are old and stretched compared to a 636. Just kinda vanilla.

I didn't want to drop that much coin on a bike but the new 636 bikes are right at the fore front of middle weight technology. I like the clutch feel on them and it comes with a good set of forks.

I forgot about the gixxer 750, I'll make a note to check one of those out.

I'd say 600rr if I was getting a used bike, but mostly because I like Hondas lol. I'm super happy with my F4i so I can only imagine the 600rr would be even nicer, if a little more aggressive.

Exactly. I get why rojo would make fun of me for owning one.

I'm kinda in a weird place in regards to motorcycling right now. My work scheduling essentially killed my weekends so racing this year is out of the question. I'm even in the process of selling my supermoto set up. I only commute to work maybe once a week via motorcycle (although I think it's because I hate my bike) and I get to squeeze in the occasional ride a few times a month.

I realized that Im being watered down to average joe street rider. It sucks. So I want a nice, cool, and fast motorcycle to "revive" myself. Truth is once the ninjette sells I might be out of a street bike for a loooong time

does pleasure ride mean carving canyons? putting along the 1 oogling hot chicks? offroading the local OHV trails with your lady on the back? ... posing at starbucks?

i like the sv650. its ugly, but its a fun bike. definitely should be shorter though. maybe 2 or 3 inches. burnouts are fun though.

My daily driver is a 2007 SV1000S. I purchased it from a gent that beat it to hell, drove it hard and put it away wet. He did no maintenance on the chain and it eventually snapped (at 40,000 miles) and cracked the crankcase. I ended up grabbing it for $1800. On my SV1000 though, I usually forget that I even have a 6th gear (sometimes even the 5th). That bike makes power and TORQUE in such an amazing way. I LOVE my SV1000 so incredibly much. Its kind of ugly and not the "hippest" thing around, but THAT MOTOR. It doesnt scream or sound like its about to grenade at close to 16,000RPM, it grunts and barks and snarls and vibrates and shakes and makes aweful noises and I am IN LOVE WITH IT. Consider a SV1000 with a GSXR front end. You wont regret it.

I'm with everyone on the 'cheater' middleweights: Daytona 675, 636, GSXR 750. For my ergos, the 675 was super uncomfortable, though. But dayummm is it sexy. If it were my money, and I had it, I'd go new 636. If it were my actual money, I'd go lightly used 750.

A lot of people don't like the looks of the new (13+) Daytona 675, so this is most likely why he is suggesting the older version. The new D675 is a "better" bike (complete redesign), but that's irrelevant for street use.

The difference between a 675 and 675R is that the R has ohlins suspension and brembo brakes stock. Again for a street only bike it doesn't matter all that much. If you want more bling or find a really good deal, the R is worth it.

I haven't ridden the other model supersports but I love my 600rr, even if it's a 2003 (that had 8k miles on it). Plus, I basically traded my ninja 250 for it in terms of price. So yes, I'm biased towards the 600rr, I say go with it

Inseam length could still be very different between people of the same height though and that's what matters more than overall height.

1) The 2013 redesign loses all of the uniqueness (and sexiness) of the 1st gen Daytona 675. The new ones look like every other new sport bike on the market.

2) That exhaust is atrocious. When will the 90's exhaust fad go away?

3) You can no longer retune the bike with your laptop.

4) Most dealers seem to be ordering the new bikes only with ABS.

5) Did I mention how hideous the exhaust is??

As for the MV, they are pretty rare. And I think they cost about 50% more than the average middleweight.

The 636 has 2 grand off. The front end looks decent, the back could be uh lovable maybe. But 11200 OTD and $204 a month. Meh, I'd fork it up for an 848 haha
