The last time I was pulled over the cop was super cool. I crossed a double white line and he gave me a warning. I tend to find that most of the cop was a douche stories start with the rider being a douche or doing something illegal.

My bro-in-law is a cop and has tons of stories from his side, including having to Sparta kick a crazy midget "thug."
I personally have never had a single encounter with the law on the streets. |

I have been pulled over 3 times in total, all on my bike. They were all cool except for the 3rd which started out bad. I was following him for a mile or so and had to get over 2 lanes for my exit. There was a dump truck in the far right lane that i did not want to be behind because they create hella turbulence.
So when a gap opened up i passed him and got over 2 lanes and he pulled me over immediately. He said we were already doing 10 over and i passed him like a bat out of hell (first time anyone said my 2fiddy was fast). I tried to explain why i did what i did but he kept cutting me off but after he came back from running my stuff he just gave me warning and calmed down. idk why i just explained it in writing, i forgot i had the video. I have passed cops on the highway before, this was the first time i passed on the right but as i said, i just wanted to get over and not be behind that dump truck. Coulda have just chilled behind the mazda but o well. From 2:37 to like 5:50 im just staring at the road so you can skip |

Not a bike story but, I was just in St Pete. and as I got on I-275 I motored pass a few cars and as I got to about 85 I noticed a State Cop off on the left breakdown lane around a left turn. He started moving and I had pulled over before he even had his lights on. He came up and rapped on my window as I was getting my papers out. I roll down the window and he says, "get the lead out of your foot, it's a $256 ticket, put your belt back on, and get out of here". I atribute it too my dazzling personality and good looks that caused him to not want to do the paperwork. He might disagree but I was smiling as I went on my way.

I wouldn't exactly call this a 'Bad cop experience' but it was rather funny.
Me and a couple of my friends were stopped by the cops claiming we were riding rash on public roads. "Rash" according to them was that we were leaning around the corners and it looked like we were racing, where as the truth was that we were just following each other under the speed limit which was like 40mph lol. One of them was particularly pissed off at me because I had the all black protective gear on and my bike was running with the low beam on. He claimed I looked like a robbery suspect running away from the scene of the crime. I explained to him that the gear was for protection and the day time running light was a safety feature common on all imported bikes and could not be turned off. He said that is some grade A bulls**t and that he has seen 'plenty' of bigger bikes than these and if the lights couldn't be turned off I should get a mechanic and get it fixed. I held my breath trying not to laugh and end up in more trouble. So, I told him I'd be sure to do that and politely asked him if I could leave. He gave my license back and I thanked him and left while laughing inside the helmet.

My story was interesting - not bad though. I thought it was more scary than anything. And then funny.
Heading down a ramp to get on the highway and an older car like a Corsica or something similar was tail-gating me really close and almost pushing me. So I accelerated (maybe to 75?) down to create more of a safety bubble. I had just taken MSF and was still learning and getting experience. He kept closing in on me and then lights popped down from the sun-shades. It was a turbo charged or super charged older car, not a muscle car but an everyday kind of car from the 90s' that was teal. Undercover cop in fast sleeper car! Very loud exhaust and engine sound - definitely packing some serious engine, etc. It was like - glug-glug-glug-glug... Sounded like a big V8? He came up to me and asked whyI was going so fast. I said I was scared by his driving and him getting so close that I needed to get some distance since I couldn't get out of his way on the ramp. I also said I had just taken MSF and was trying to create a safety bubble like I learned about until I got off the ramp and get out of his way. He was cool about it and actually apologized! I was surprised to say the least. No ticket and no warning. Just a verbal watch your speed. From now on I can't help but feel that any car on the road could be a cop. So I tend not to speed very much at all. |

Not over here, the motorcycles that are locally manufactured over here does not come with DRLs as its is not required by law. All the bikes that are imported as CBUs and some CDKs have DRLs as standard fitments. However there are rumors that DRLs are going be made compulsory by 2014.

Never had a bad experience with a cop on my bike as of yet.
In my car i got pulled over for having a total of 4 people in my car smoking cigarettes. D-bag cops said we looked like pot heads or something. Pulled my boyfriend-at-the-time out of the car and everything. The funny thing was it turned out the he WAS a pot head. Thank god he didn't have anything on him at the time. Just pisseed me off, the kept us for an hour-ish on the side of the road. And had 2 other cops pull up. And no, i wasn't speeding or anything.

I got the wave from a motorcycle cop headed the other way on 95 last week. Does that count?

I've had two written warnings. Its nit always serious stuff. once for spinning a tire in the rain.once for exhaust being too loud. speeding too. usually they thank me for stopping instead of running. i always stop as soon as i know.I'm getting pulled over.

About a month after I started riding, a cop (actually game warden) pulled us over for riding on an unauthorized dirt road. He arrested both of us on misdemeanor charges. It was totally bogus. It was on private property where the owner said the public was allowed to go. I called the owner and she didn't know anything about it. The state attorney dropped the charges, but we did agree to do 8 hours community service as a sign of good faith.
On the road, so far the regular cops have been very reasonable. One did yell at me for having a "too quiet" exhaust, but so far, that's about it.

not a bad cop experience but one of my favorites to tell.
Was traveling from PA back down to DC area late one night in my old 2010 civic si. Was about 2hr into the trip going through small city area with lots of exits off the highway. I was cruising at a decent pace ~80mph and there was an on ramp onto the highway from the right and I noticed an SUV type vehicle getting onto the highway. It was quite dark and when the SUV got onto the highway were were about neck and neck doing ~80. My boredom got the best of me so I drop gear to 4th and dump it and they appear to do the same (me thinking, this is fun) I pull away fairly quickly and top out forth gear at 104mph hit fifth and start to pulling further away then I see the vehicle in my rear view under a street light and its a police SUV. I let off the gas and let the engine break. The police SUV pulled up beside me and cruised at my pace for a few seconds then sped off. Only thing I can figure is they were out of their jurisdiction IDK? or maybe they had as much fun as I did but it was interesting

In florida, cops are state certified so a pensacola cop on vacation in key west has the authority to stop you for speeding. In practice, they generally don't do that unless you piss them off. Even one city over, they rarely go after traffic infractions because they don't get credit for it. The state disperses the fine money based on where the ticket was issued and not who gave it. The state cops (highway patrol) will give tickets anywhere which makes them mean. Warnings from FHP are pretty rare. They hang out on state roads and interstates so they can keep all the fine money for the state.

subexro's story reminded me of the first time i encountered the police while on the road.
I was coming home from school first at a stop light, so i gun it to get distance from everyone and im just cruising along. I passed this white SUV earlier and i saw another come up behind me kinda fast. So i was like oh hes back and whants a little race. I twist that throttle going like 95 or so and the SUV gets next to me and passes, says "POLICE" turns his lights on and did a wop wop with his sirens i was like........welp dam. He gets in front of me, brakes, and i slow down. He turns his lights off and goes away. I was literally laughing out loud at how lucky i was. About a half mile down the road we were right next to each other at a stop light. I didnt look over |
